(Old) You Get A Gold Star In The MMP

Hi!

I’ve woken Monks out of a sound sleep by petting him, sometimes in revenge for him waking my ass up just because he wanted attention, and sometimes simply because he’s so friggin’ adorable.

Usually he’ll do that little trill cats do, but if he really wants to sleep, he will then gently but firmly push my hand away. No claws, just “Please stop.”

Right now he’s licking my arm (hi, Annie!) presumably since I’m ignoring him and paying attention to the doohickey in my hands you fine folks instead.

Or possibly, I haz a flavor.

Post Dinner Szoomie Time?

(I know what you meant.)

This could easily be a T-shirt.

I love these stories about your pupils, and this was a particularly good one!

Lotsa water and shampoo should do the trick.

Pics of Smurf-Tobias would be nice, tho!

There are worse things in life, especially for a little kid!

Election FRAUD!!!

Tobias didn’t get to smurfdom, and you can’t see their hair-paint in this pic, but per your request:
Imgur
By the time they got to the purple wall opposite the green one, their clothes were well-colored. They had a blast!

Home from Aldi run - traffic was amazingly light! I just finished boiling some eggs and making measured snack baggies for FCD. He’s not big on portion control, so I make his portions and he seems to do OK with what I make for him. I also posted a list inside the pantry showing how many calories each snack bag has. Not sure if he cares, but it works for me.

OK, eggs are cool enough to peel - back to the kitchen with me.

Although part of me can’t believe that May starts in just three days, I’ll be glad to see the back of April: not only because of the mercurial weather, but because the first month of this new job will be behind me! My boss is aware of how complex the program is and has said she doesn’t expect substantive contributions for another couple of months, but I’m hoping to get ahead of that curve. I think it will help that I get “my” team next week: two existing staff members will transfer to me over the weekend (including the guy who was my junior employee on my previous contract), and a new hire starts on Monday. A month without being a manager was a nice break, especially while drinking from a firehose, but I’m ready to get back to it.

Yesterday afternoon with my friend was really nice: lunch at Red Robin was, indeed, “yum” (though she paid, so I don’t know how much my check came to), and – OMG you guys – the musical version of Legally Blonde is, like, hysterical! The music/lyrics/book were so much better than I expected! The production and talent quality were also pretty damn good for community theater. I’ll be signing up for this company’s audition notices. My dream/goal is to someday play Abigail Adams in 1776, but you never know what else might come along.

A nice thing happened this morning: I had to go to the security office to sign some forms and I had to present ID, and the guy who helped me couldn’t believe my birth year. Then he said he thought I was his age, which turned out to be 40. Not bad for a 53-year-old! I’ve always had a baby face, but the older I get the nicer those moments are. Even though I can’t take credit for my genetics, I might just give myself a :star:!

I was in Eagle house, which I remember 40 years later because I wrote it all over my notebooks and can picture them. :joy: The first time I read a Harry Potter book I was like “oh, hey! house points!” They were a big deal…but I can’t remember if I ever earned (or lost) any. Heh.

I’m an election officer in the US: that would make our heads explode.

Thank you for making my evening a little better. It’s been a rough one so far. MusicMan is going to be late and is very upset about it (rightfully so).

We did get the estimate on repairing the basement today, but I can’t figure it out, so I”m waiting for the guy to call me back and explain it.

Well perhaps I get a :glowing_star: for finally finishing reading last week’s mmp. Here’s a few comments:

I learned something last week. One of our daughter’s friends is a librarian and/or teaches library science. I was seeing TBR on her instagram a number of times and couldn’t figure out what it meant so I asked. TBR-To Be Read.

Hubs’ PCP prescribed them when he had gout in his big toe.

I agree. I have a load on the line but it can wait until tomorrow to be folded and put away. I’m at my most energetic best in the mornings.

Glad to see there are only 25 posts so far today. Hopefully I can catch up this evening. Hope you’re having an enjoyable start to the week.

RoxStar looks so intent! She’s like, “I got this!”

Your optimism is adorable.

What moisturizer do you use?

Monkey { lip } was very { lap} happy to help.

Till I pushed him away, cuz that shit tickles!!!

Ehrmmm .. well, that’s one way to live, I guess.

My mother decided I need shelves, sent me the link & snail-mailed me a check.

The shelves have arrived. I let her know, so she would know it showed up, but said, “It’ll be a while till I can put them together.”

“Aren’t you excited?!”

“I hafta work.”

I mean, I guess, yeah, but I haven’t even opened your envelope let alone deposited your check, and I’ve got other “shit I gotta do” on the list.

Some of which involves a drill, so .. I guess?

How come?

Glad the new job is going so well.

Hubs used to pay helpers to clean up after him. It was really hard to get him to understand that he didn’t have helpers at home and he needed to throw his trash into the can.

Why? That’s the perfect time to play with the hair between their toes just to make their feets twitch.

Hey right back! It’s till a little too cool at night to leave the windows open so one of us will close them when we wake up to pee.

Bless your heart.

One job I worked had a shredding machine powerful enough to throw phone books down it’s maw. That was super satisfying!

I’m glad you are feeling up to it again. Do take care of yourself!

Its been almost a year and I’m still not finding things because they didn’t make the move. I just learned I don’t have my garden clippers and had to use utility scissors to deadhead my posies.

Oh thank goodness. Some folks would understand that getting mega-ichies would be enough to make them keel over. At least I would!

Thanks for the kind words about my upcoming surgery. My fore-mind is not worried about it at all. Back when I worked for the eye surgeons, they did 60 cataract surgeries a week. I worked there for three years. I only knew of one failure and I ran the office manager (admin asst.). I would have known if there had been more.

I’m looking forward to being Comfortably Numb and I’m positive I’ll be happy when it is done.

I guess it happened so gradually that I didn’t notice and thought that I just needed new glasses.

I did get mildly scolded for going four years without a full eye exam, and…I know that he was right.

I love your teaching stories.

Which is always a good thing!

It always makes me happy to know that people are willing to stand in long lines to vote. That is so important!

Sedona AZ has a county border running through it so folks who live across the street from each other might have to vote in different polling places. It gets confusing.

We had our crawlspace fully lined with really thick plastic sheets and foam spray along with having the wood floor sealed from the bottom. That and the ceiling insulation has made such a difference in the noise and temp control in our home. I was really surprised, I didn’t think we would be able to notice it the next day.

It was just under 10 grand and was done by Reed’s Spray Foam and they do go to Ohio. I know that your basement is going to be more expensive, it is bigger than our crawlspace.

So Happy Monday everyone and isn’t it a beautiful day! The sun is shining (83F currently), the birds are singing and my posies are blooming.

My boot just came out of the washer, it is no longer needed and can be donated. HURRAY!!!

Sprains take longer to heal, so I’m supposed to keep wearing my wrist brace for another couple of weeks.

The ortho guy said that gentle exercise, like bobbing around in the water, helps the body to heal so I’m glad I started bobbing around in the water again.

Tomorrow is going to be the first meeting of the Chapmanville Stitch and Sip members. There are six people who have promised to be there so I’m hoping that at least two other folks will show. I’m going to make a cheese board and bring a bottle of mead, I want to impress folks. BL’s oldest son will be there, he bought a lamb and raised it into a sheep so he could learn to spin and weave.

I remember being that young and enthusiastic, it was many years ago!

Gout’s the worse, I knew someone who refused to change her diet for her gout and the flare-ups were so painful that she couldn’t wear shoes or even socks because the top of her foot always hurt so much.

She used to get mad at her doctor because the steroids helped the pain so much and he didn’t want to give them to her as often as she wanted.

Then she went all woo and started treating it with herbal remedies and garlic poultices while switching from beer to wine. That didn’t seem to work any better.

She refused to get vaccinated and died of covid before she got her gout under control.

Oh mom, I’m so excited that I don’t want to put it together right away. I just want to admire the box and bask in your love.

Considering diabetes was a major factor in his middle brother’s death, he’s being pretty compliant with his dietary restrictions. In fact, I have to get on him to eat the full allotment of daily calories. Skipping meals ain’t no good for blood sugar.

In fact, both of us are eating better - for me, it’s to counteract all the stress eating I’ve done in the past few months. It got to where I had only a couple of pairs of jeans I could squeeze into. I did not want to shop for bigger ones.

OK, time to do some pedaling. Down the stairs I shall go!

Saddened by the news from Vancouver. Death toll from the car ramming is now up to 11. Sounds like it may go higher.

Driver has been charged with several counts of murder.

Well, now you’ve done it. This song is playing over and over in my head.

Oh, I’m so excited for this. Assuming this is going to be held at the Fruit/Veggie store that you just subbed at? Not sure what BL stands for.

Hubs currently takes allopurinol daily to keep gout from coming back.

Hubs is going to make sloppy joes for dinner so I’m going to go workout on the NuStep while he’s doing so.

Ta-Ta for now.

Boss Lady. And yes, it is going to be at the store. We are going to start at four which will give everyone time to shop before the store closes. I’m really excited to get this started, I’ve missed stitching with other crafty folks.

I knew at the time that there were things she could do, but some people are just going to do it their way no matter if it kills them.

I remember she went through a cherry phase, she took tart cherry supplements and drank cherry juice all the time. She was the sort to loudly share all of her choices in the lunch room, I used to hear all about it during the three minutes it took me to heat my lunch up in the microwave.

I’m so happy your Hubs is able to make dinner again. That shows some huge progress considering there was a time that he couldn’t even peel a banana.

Howdy Y’all! OYKW said the sketties ‘ meatballs deserved a🌟. Glad he thinks so cause he gets to eat it again tomorrow. Luckily neither of us minds leftovers. Sloth has indeed ruled the day. We day drank out beside the cee-mint pond. It’s been nice out all day, warm, but with a nice breeze. No rain however. Sup has settled, so Netflix, chill and popcorn are next on the agenda.

nellie I’m president? I guess my campaign slogan promisin’ a chikin smokin’ pot in the car in every garage worked.

Glad re the injector, Nellie. Is it more complex than others you’ve used?

Today’s body: Good news is that my pneumonia vaxxes are still sufficient unto the day, as are the shingles shots. We’ll see if I need a fresh MMR. No COVID revax or more blood draws until July. Mounjaro injection in top of right calf, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) in right shoulder because…, bandage on right thumb from a glancing saw wound while gardening, ouchy-achey blood draw for measles titer in left arm. I’ve told my lovely wife that she can pat my head or my left leg. Going to nap now.

No worries tonight; calm weather. Tomorrow its to go from 80 to 40.:cloud_with_lightning_and_rain:
Tonight I warch KillTony.
Got books and magazines.
Job interview Friday.

High schoolers reacting like that doesn’t surprise me. Back in the days that I inspected electrical harnesses in the auto industry, I started putting stickers on their 100% perfect harness sheets. The production supervisors began displaying those sheets on the line’s bulletin board and it became a competition of sorts. Grown ups aren’t immune.

Ahhhh…thank you! My bestie for the day has been my heating pad.

One place that I lived in up north had the county line run through town, in fact, through my apartment complex. While my neighbors could walk to their polling place, I had to drive 9.5 miles to BF Indiana to vote in a little country church.

That is sad.

So do I and it works well most of the time.

I’ve gotten to the next to the last layout in this year’s edition of the family cookbook. All that will be left after is a one page layout and the cover. Then I can work on borders for next year’s edition with the scraps (see, quilters aren’t the only ones who do piecework. )

And good evening all. All tasks for today have been completed, a bit sore around the chest and shoulders as the weight trainer is ramping things up a bit. Kids were a handful, guess being cooped up for a week got on their nerves too, but we’re cool. Had my Krystals and am finishing it up with a couple cups of Motts Applesauce. Internetting and slothage will occupy the rest of the evening.

And about 24 messages to get through…engaging scroll mode, Keptain…

Pavo, sounds like they’ll be keeping you busy.

Knots, enjoy the nice weather, but remember nothing lasts forever (or even a week).

nellie. hopefully happy injecting.

Doh!! PTSD of course (my typing is usually good until it isn’t). And i could probably handle Post Dinner Szoomie Time…

Piper, glad you voted, will be following the results on the SDMB thread for it.

Saltpeter, John!!

Oopsie, most of my life people thought I was older than I was; it’s only in the last decade that they started to say I looked younger.

{{Sticky Buns}}, sounds like you could use a couple of them.

JtC, hope the stitching group becomes a regular thing for you and the others, it’ll give you a chance to continue to meld into the county. And some people are stubborn enough to die of willful ignorance; thankfully I don’t think that describes any of us Mumpers.

Piper, tragic news from up North; things like that are unpredictable and inexplicable (at least to me).

And that’s all for me tonight. Take care and I’ll see you tomorrow.

I had a long nap with Spot(1 bio break). Dinner tonight is an Old Fashioned, fries, bacon cheeseburger, and corn on the cob with Old Bay and butter. I’m watching a little Doctor Pimple Popper. I enjoy a good cyst.

< crosses fingers > And thanks for Stankoven!

Spot is also in finger licking mode today.

High School style?

@susan :rofl:
