Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated (I didn’t drop the Chalice or trip over my feet, so it was a win) and had a nummy first Sunday brunch. Then it was back to da cave for nappage and sloth. I feel like I want to go to bed, but won’t yet. Thus is the news from swampland.
Cleaning is done, trash and recycling is out, and laundry is tumbling in the dyer. Spot has moved to the couch for his late afternoon nap.
Bring him a Lego set to work on while you find his card.
And if that’s the worst thing you do as a boss you’re doing great.
Well, Spot is a cat, and he just bats the things under assorted furniture and appliances.
Late afternoon/early evening greetings to all. I really, really was going to the gym today, but felt a little tired so laid down about 1pm to take a short nap…and woke up at 5pm, so that took care of my afternoon. Will get a light meal in a bit and finish out the day will more slothing, but no more sleep until late.
Knots, my brother’s bassets love eating ice and with their strong jaws they don’t seem to have any issues, but I can see the problem arising.

No, it’s on their daily menu, go here: Menu - Logan's Roadhouse and click “Roadhouse Classics”.
And that’s all from Casa Rat. Back for some closing remarks this evening.
When we were in college, Hubs took me to see Frederico Fellini’s Amarcord. It was in Italian with English subtitles. I loved it! A number of years later we went to see it again and it was dubbed. Just wasn’t the same.
FCM glad to hear SIL has been discharged. Can’t be easy for your daughter and the kids have to be a little disconcerted at their Dad having to be in the hospital. I truly hope this is a wakeup call for him.
Daughter said there was pulled pork at her church’s Sunday brunch today. Kinda wish she’d invited me to come. But then again it was raining and it’s about 18 miles away.
Woke up sometime after 4am so I’m starting to wind down. So, I’ll see you all on the new mmp.
Nelson tends to just play hockey with dropped ice cubes and doesn’t bother trying to eat them. Then again, standard sized ice cubes are a little too big for him to get in his mouth.
Your sponsor plaques look good VanGo!
I temporarily repurposed my crop tote (think fabric covered milk crate with wheels, a telescoping handle, fabric covering inside, out and top with neat little pockets and loops for crafty stuff) to take with me to Kroger for bringing groceries in the apartment. It worked a charm.
It’s unseasonably chilly here; two days ago, I turned off the AC and last night, I turned the heat back on.
Tomorrow, I have to adult some more in getting my absence / short term disability crap updated in the system and Tuesday, I begin PT.
Now, back to making bookmarks with scraps.
Here’s a link to the factory specs for his bike. Dry weight is just under 700 lbs but that’s before the fancy saddle bags, windshield, seat and backrests. Dry weight is what a bike straight off the factory floor weighs before fluids and doo-dads. And tool kit. And rain suit, first aid kit, a gallon of water and a towel.
He always carries a towel in his vehicles. If asked, he says its because his wife thinks its important that he always knows where his towel is while rolling his eyes.
What a brave kittah! The Best Cat in the World lived under the bed in the guest room for a few months before moving out to live under the loveseat in the living room. He stayed there for a month and then a switch flipped and he was a happy house cat who would sit in the middle of the room and vibrate because he was so happy to be inside.
So, actually, I wasn’t as clear as I should have been. I’m not doing this for her. Mom has always done all of that sort of thing for them. If they bought drugs with the rent money, they knew that mom would step in and bail them out. If they spent their food stamps on soda and chips, they knew that mom would buy food for her grandkids. I have smoked a whole bunch of weed in my attempt to not lose my mind over her enabling her adult daughters constant dependence on her.
I’ve warned her several times that she needs to think about what is going to happen to them when she is gone. They really do not know how to adult and the one with covid hasn’t ever worked long enough to collect social security and couldn’t stay married to any of her baby daddies (ten years) to be able to collect off their social security.
She’s going to be homeless within a year of Mom being gone. Second sister will be homeless in five. I don’t know about the other one, last I heard, she was actually working so maybe she will be OK.
I am doing this for Mom. She’s 22 years older than me and she gets confused easily. She also has problems hearing on the phone and sometimes forgets how to use it. If I don’t step in, which ever sister is having the meltdown makes her cry with confusion and frustration because she can remember being able to do these things.
It’s very frustrating but I also know that it will all be over in a few years and then I’ll block the sisters and wash my hands of all of that nonsense.
I do truly believe there is a lot of misdiagnosed mental illness doing on with a couple of them. Sis with the dogs is a typical hoarder. She rescues these dogs out of horrible situations and that is laudable.
But then she can’t/won’t re-home them because nobody will ever understand and care as much as she does…and ends up with enough dogs that the county steps in. This won’t be the first large check I’ve written to that rescue group.
When this is all over, I’ll tell mom how much I spent and she will do her best to remember to send me a check. If not…well that also isn’t the first critter rescue I’ve written large checks to and probably won’t be the last.
That sounds very productive!
Ex-government worker here. I can’t remember a first day that I was able to log into the system. I thought that learning how to call tech support was part of the official on-boarding procedure.
It was for union workers and their supporters. Thank you for showing up, every body is counted and counts.
I hope the money starts rolling in soon.
Dang about the auto-injector. Can you ask for a topical pain killer to use before shooting yourself? If you need someone to swear for you, just post what time here and I’m sure that all of use will be able to supply all of the words you couldn’t say.
So, I wanted to talk fushia plants with you. I’ve never been able to keep one alive in AZ, too hot and dry for them. I bought one a couple of weeks ago and the flowers are starting to open. I got excited and read up on them and learned that I might be able to put it out in the full morning sun as long as I kept it watered.
So, how long do you let your fushia get sun? How often do you water? Do you get heavy dew in the mornings?
Did you buy one this year? Cause if you didn’t, I’d love to buy one for you as a thanks for keeping them in my mind. I am really enjoying the one I now have.
Why, you silver tongued devil you!
While chatting with folks, I learned that there is a good cobbler in the area so I’m going to have him put some grommets in the sides of my walking shoes. They are very comfy and well made, they just get too hot after a while.
Yeah.
She’s in one of the homes in CA now. The ship discharged her to the hospital at the port who kept her overnight and then refused to keep her longer because all she needs now is nursing care.
So, its settled. Medicaid will pay to transport her to one of the places I found in her area and if she can’t find a friend to take care of the dogs, off they will go to get vetted and rehabbed themselves.
Oh, like sitting at a work cube. Boring, no matter how fast you are going.
I’m glad you had a nice shopping trip. The older I get, the pickier I am about my clothes which makes finding what I want more complicated than it should be.
Why are usable pockets in women’s clothing still so rare?
I feel the same way! Also agree with you, retirement was my calling all along.
I bought one of those for VBC and GG. She didn’t waste any time getting the treats. Poor GG never understood why we were hiding the good stuff to start with and certainly didn’t ever manage to get a treat.
The most important part!
Which is why GG gets his ice cubes in his drinking fountain. I’m too lazy to deal with mopping up water from under the fridge.
The problem, and the reason humans shouldn’t chew ice is that it freezes and damages the tooth enamel which allows continued chewing to break bits of the surface off. Then the tooth doesn’t have it’s protective covering and will shatter unexpectedly.
Or so I’ve been told. I’m not a dentist and have never floozied with one.
I used to do that, but nowadays most of my friends read e-books. Mom “donates” them to the library, but that’s OK. I like to imagine how happy the next book borrower is by finding a tatted bookmark in the middle of her read.
Wow, that’s a blast from the past…I haven’t been able to tat for years. It’s exciting to think that I might be able to start again next month.
Forgot to mention to y’all that today is my NAME DAY!
It’s a Kath-lick thang, to celebrate the feast day of the saint with whom you share a name.
As if in my honor, Mama Nature gifted us a spectacular double rainbow
this evening, right where we could all see it at work … followed by a lovely tie-dye sunset in vivid shifting colors.
As a bonus, I got out early enough to sit on my side steps, have a smoke & admire the last of the sunset, and let Monkey go run around outside.
I do hope the poor dear didn’t overtax herself.
Peer Gynt is done. Not quite the end of the symphony season (we’re singing at a choral convention in June), but I get most of my Tuesday evenings back.
It was also the last concert or of our regular concert hall. They’ve been doing a two-year, $150 million renovation, and we’ve been displaced. Choral projects, which require a bigger stage, have been in a large theater downtown, which has a less-than-ideal acoustic (especially onstage, where we can’t really hear each other), and difficult parking. It’s attached to the hockey arena, so if there’s a Blues game at the same time, it’s really chaotic.
We’ll be very glad to be back home next season.
I donate them to the library, a nursing home, Cards for Soldiers (I donate cards to the latter two as well), friends (I’ve taken them to Dopefests / Mumper meet up) and family. I don’t use very many myself anymore, given that I primarily read e-books.

Forgot to mention to y’all that today is my NAME DAY!

Happy Name day! Mine is coming up this month too.

My favourite pub is in the city named after her.
And a late night final for my week. Outside of two preparing and dining upon two braunschweiger sammiches and some baby carrots, have done nothing of consequence this evening. Think I will head off to bed and do some reading and see how long it takes for slumberland to show up. Y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Mrs. L.A. brought her drone to church, planning on flying it afterward. We drove out to the Semiahmoo Spit, but it was too windy. We drove back to Birch Bay, where she showed me a place that would be good for putting in the kayaks when it gets warmer. On the way home, we stopped off at Bay Breeze for a drink. She had a white Russian with Baileys Irish Cream instead of cream. I had a negroni. We put in a Star Wars DVD, and she took a nap in her chair.
At home, I had a hammenswiss sandwich for lunch. She had a cheese sandwich, and then decided to have her Trader Joe’s tomato-and-mozz salad for an early dinner. I had ground beef & broccoli for dinner.
Having watched Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, we’re now watching Return Of The Jedi.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Well, the Jets just fixed that problem for you till September(In come from behind in the last 2 minutes, Double secret Overtime fashion)

Happy Name day! Mine is coming up this month too.
Mine is in July
New MMP is here!

We’ll be very glad to be back home next season.
I bet the hockey people think they have priority.
