(Old) You Get A Gold Star In The MMP

I passed both on my way to Food Lion, so I knew which one to stop at. But, yeah, the prices change constantly and by crazy amounts! I’m guessing the stations have a wheel-o’price-changes that they spin every morning!

My mom got one installed - dunno what brand - but considering she and my sister who lives with her both have mobility issues, they don’t much care about resale. I saw the installation and it’d be a piece of cake to removed it since the track is bolted to the steps, not the wall. That’s the kind I’d consider should the stairs become too much for me.

That, or a sliding board and a winch.

Dishwasher is washing and we’re launching into evening chillage mode. I’m about to head downstairs for my cardio. Tomorrow will be replace-the-disposal day. So there’s that to look forward to!

Bearded dragons are fine. They mostly stay where they’re put, they’re cold-blooded so they’re slow unlike my sneaky cat and I’ve never heard that they are mean spirited. So we would be good. Tarantulas are ok too.

Usually something like “such a committed performance”.

Ok, we’ve talked some more. Maybe we can come up with a compromise that will keep us in the house. We’re willing to investigate further to see.

MusicMan is home and had a good conversation with his boss today. It definitely sounds like they want to work with him and ease his burden as much as they can. It was nice listening to what his boss had to say about him and his quality of work. I am very proud of him and how far he’s come.

Ok, I didn’t find any wearable pants in my excursion up to the attic, so I’m going to figure out my measurements and look for some cheap jeans and shorts. Catch y’all later!

The new box springs and mattress have been delivered and set up. I may have to get stairs for Nelson, as this one sets higher than the old one. I’ll leave his crate bed next to it tonight when I go to bed, just in case he can’t get back in on his own.

We run into that issue whenever we go on vacation and it only takes the first night for him to realize that he can’t just hop out and get back in on his own. I may give Dad the measurements and have him make me a set. He’s made them for other folks and knows what he’s doing.

Other than that, I have the scraps sorted and put away from the cookbook project and am now getting ready to begin the borders for next year.

Howdy Y’all! Home from the Wednesday doin’s over to the church house. Lasagna, sallit, rolls, and “tropical” dessert (niller puddin’ with a niller wafer crust with pineapple and mango) for sup and ‘twas good. We’ve et Eyetalian type food for three days in a row. Had a brief meet about VBS. Other verger and I volunteered to do food. We will do three nights of food. The last night will be at the local aquarium and the little crumb snatchers will get IckFilA that night. There will be a sallit bar each night per request. We’ll do pizza one night, dawgs one night and sump’n TBD another night. We’ll do stuff like ice cream, brownies and cookies for dessert and have lemonade. We’ll sugar up the little urchins and send ‘em home to their ‘rents. What? Won’t be our problem.

In a terrible bit of timing, I got a phone call from my health insurance company when I was getting ready for a shower. My phone comes through my hearing aids, which I had just taken out for the shower. Near as I could tell, they wanted me to do a “brief survey.” I said I had just taken out, etc., and they’d just have to call some other time. I had taken off my briefs, too, but I didn’t think it was that kind of brief survey.

Mrs. Nott sold 9 purses yesterday. Today, she got them all boxed up and mailed.

flyboy has it right. You just have to go out there with the right attitude. Then people will see you and think, “Hey, he looks goood in that fedora!” On the other hand, a friend gave me a cowboy hat, and I’ve never felt right about wearing it. I’m not a cowboy by any stretch of definition.

My neighborhood garage sale is on Friday. We’ll need the very big table for that, which is now holding a 2/3 finished jigsaw puzzle of Busch Stadium. The remaining part is people in the stands, and it’s been slow going. I think we’re going to have to admit the puzzle has won. Scroot.

Be well, be safe, and be You.

I have a straw trilby that I bought in L.A. in 2000 or 2002 or so. I used to wear it when our office was in Belltown (Seattle), and several people said they like it.

Mrs. L.A. hates my bowties, but I assured her that everyone likes them. She let me wear one to El Jefe’s retirement party, to good reviews. Bow ties are cool. (She won’t let me wear my fez, though.)

You won’t believe this but …

I’m now sitting in a cigar bar having a stogie & a porto after dinner. There’s a TV with women’s tennis on.

I read your sentence and look up at the TV. A man in a fez is speaking to the camera! It’s a commercial / funding appeal for the Shriners.

I haven’t thought about a fez in a long time and there is both you and he.

Late add…

P.s. He looked cool. Wear it confident & it’ll work.

In the '90s I bought a Shriner’s fez from Shriners. No emblem, just plain. I like it, but it’s too tall (not as tall as the one in the commercial, thankfully). I wore it to a Halloween party with skull makeup, a colour 1990s Marie Laveau T-shirt I’d bought in New Orleans, and a white-and-black skull-themed walking stick. One of my best costumes. (Sadly, I don’t get invited to parties anymore, at my age.) When I misplaced that fez (since found), I bought one off of Amazon. Still too tall. My newest one is cheap, but it’s the right height.

Mrs. L.A. didn’t want anything for dinner. She had cashews, Laughing Cow cheese, and some cold Jesus ham. So I fired up the toaster oven: Frozen chicken breast tenderloins with Lawry’s Seasoned Salt and Pickapeppa sauce, and frozen broccoli florets with kosher salt, for half an hour. Goo ate all of the broccoli I gave her. And the bits of chicken (that didn’t have sauce).

Up from naptime, having a martini and meatballs with three cheese tortellini. Spot is chasing an ice cube.

I can’t imagine having to pay for the complete HVAC replacement, and 6 floods out of pocket. Not to mention the re-roofing, re-windowing, and re-siding from 6 years ago.

[11th Doctor]I speak Spider. his name is Fred, and he asks you to respect his life choices.[/11th Doctor]

Then I deserve many gold stars.

Did you marry River Song?

Fezzes are cool.

And it’s late night final time. Burned calories and lifted weights and ate a Cheeburger and made a appointment for my yearly checkup next Wednesday and got the big garbage bin to the curb, so not a bad afternoon and evening. Getting to bed early since the HVAC folks are due tomorrow, probably early. Still 74F after 9pm here, so I think it’s finally to store the room space heater now.

Initate scroll mode…

Only one I can find is the annual McAfee one and that isn’t due until December. Will go back through the history to make sure I am not missing any others. As for gas, I try to take advantage of shopping at Kroger to get a discount, often $1.00/gal or more…of course that means I have to but their stuff, but it seems to work out.

lily, you ain’t kidding about houses and costs. I’m waiting a couple years before pulling out the big bucks prior to moving, but between plumbing and insulation work, that’ll be a nice little sum out of my pocket.

cookie , hope wife (and you of course) do OK with the vaccination.

Knots, good news on your wife’s sales.
And all the exercising caught up with me mid-scrolling, so take care and I’ll catch y’all tomorrow.

Oh, yeah, beardies are known for being, at minimum, docile. Handled enough, they are - for a reptile - downright friendly.

I snortled.

That sounds amazing.

Do you put little paper umbrellas on it?

Damn, dude, my bad.

It’s turned into a lovely night, softly cool with a gentle breeze.
Monks shot out the door as soon as I walked in, but, you know what? I wanted to sit outside anyway.
I can always bribe him back with the cruuuunch of gooshy-fud being opened.

:star:

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Happy May Day!
I used to date a girl, then I found out she made banners for the local Communist Party. that was a huge red flag for me.

Yes.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/63f with a predicted high of 26c/78f and sunny. Weather app says “While I fucking enjoy mild weather, I’m not a fan of the fucking sun.” Me neither, I don’t do well with heat.

:people_hugging: :people_hugging: :people_hugging:
I am sorry life is so hard for you at the moment. Having to face uprooting yourself from your home and finding somewhere else to live is more than most people want to deal with at the best of times. Can your family help with any of that?

Pavo I hope your students do excellent work! I used to love the recitals part of our music programme because we got to see all the video performances.

Still glad to see you!

I’m glad you and MusicMan had a productive conversation, and he also had a good talk with his boss. As far as houses go, I’d happily trade ours for a single-storey place but they’re not all that common here. 'im indoors keeps saying he’d like a bigger house but he’s a packrat so that would just mean him holding on to more junk! I want a smaller place, so we’ll see who wins on that one. Won’t be doing anything until one of us is infirm or the neighbours become more intolerable than usual.

We bought stairs for Shadow and Ophelia to help them get up to the front bay window for some sunbathing, and to get onto our bed. Ophie loved them, Shadow viewed them with deep suspicion!

For various reasons, my day went somewhat pear-shaped yesterday, and as usual for a Wednesday, very little actual work got done. I popped over to see my work bestie and drop off her gift, stayed for about an hour chatting to her and the other guys in the office where I used to work. Then she messaged me later and asked if we could meet for lunch instead of after work because her husband could pick her up and take her home with all her gifts, flowers, balloons etc.

So we met for lunch, sat in the sun with a jacket potato and a cold drink which was very pleasant. Then I had an email from my pub friends to say that one is getting over a cold and one’s in the middle of the same, so they weren’t coming out. Bonus night at home…which was good because it meant I could have the windows open all evening to cool the house down.

It ended up being a quiet night for me, and I was in bed early with a fan blowing cold air at me. Cherry slept on the bed with me, Blossom snoozed on top of the laundry basket, and Muffin stayed in the bookcase. She did come out overnight because this morning the food bowl was empty and she’d scoffed the plate of treats I left for her.

Not much work will be done today either - I have a 2hr race and equality training session this morning, a 1hr meeting with one of my minions this afternoon, and I have some mandatory online training to complete as well.

Now I am off in search of a decent hot water supply for a cup of tea. Thereby hangs a tale…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 86 and cloudy. Mowage is on the agenda this mornin’. We are in danger of bein’ the worst lookin’ yahd in da ‘hood. That must be rectified! The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS sloth. OYKW said last night that he wants stoner food, so Cook Out will provide sup.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all! Happy May first! Does that make today International Pole Dancin’ Day?

I’m up and getting ready to hit the road to go meet up with @JaneDoe42 !
