This is the advice I hear universally about McAfee, both from our pilot but also from my oldest son who has been an IT professional for 20 years (pilot was IT pro for years too). Ditch it, it’s a ripoff and makes things worse, not better. Come to think of it, my older brother, who literally is a rocket scientist, did IT at the Fermi lab in Chicago and he says the same thing. He’s been in computers since the mid ‘60s at the University of Iowa. So, 3 out of 3 agree, bag McAfee, save the money and spend it on something fun for your soccer kids.

You were and are a class act, and the morons in charge cannot take any of those years of class-acting away from you.
And taters, come back often and let all of us tell you that again, as long as you need, as many times as you need. You have a bottomless refill with us. You deserve better but you at least get us.

Bravo! Well done. Much productivity.

How about me moving into your basement apt?
Well, if FCD goes to his reward before you do, we can talk.

I have left something that was a significant part of my identity,
Saying “I’m retired” instead of “I work for…” is a bit jarring at first. But give yourself some time to adjust, at which point you may decided to seek part time/temp work, or become a dedicated RDOS. Heck, we all aspire to be swampy!
FCD got the new disposal installed (with my help, of course - I know what to hand him and when to hand it) and it only required one trip to Lowes!! And I cleaned out under the sink - go me! We had salad at Olive Garden after stopping at Lowes and now we’re in hard-core chillage mode.
We also stopped at Daughter’s to plan the installation of the lights (which will happen tomorrow), and we ran to the boat to count how many bulbs need to be replaced with LEDs. I still need to empty the dishwasher and plan supper, as it’s 4 already. Sheesh - where did the day go??
It got warm enough inside that we closed the house and turned on the air. Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer - upper 80s. Then it should cool down a bit. I’m not ready for summer yet.
I am home, what a great day. It was a lovely drive, Sticky and StickyMom are just delightful people and glass blowing was not what I expected. I mean, I’ve seen that glass blowing show on netflix and I’ve watched the Disneyland glass blowers so I had some idea about what to expect, but I didn’t think that glass was as stiff as it was.
Sticky made me the cutest little hat that I brought home and put on Jolene. It didn’t stay on her head long enough for a pic, so I’ll try it again later. She looked super cute and seriously outraged!
While I was gone, hubs went east to the Mothman Harley Dealer and settled on a bike. He wants to go and pick it up tomorrow and bribed me with a trip to the dispensary (conveniently located in the same parking lot) to convince me to drive across the state again.
Boo, if we weren’t so far away from your beloved grandkids, I think you would be a delightful roomie when hubs gets run over on his overpowered motorcycle. Here’s hoping it won’t happen soon.
More later, I’ve got kitty kissin’ up to do.

My work day is over (), and it turns out today is my Friday: I have in-person election-related training tomorrow from 12-2pm, meaning I was already going to be OOO from ~11:15 until 2:30 or 3:00, so I got my boss’s OK to simply take the day off. The training is 2 miles from the Kohl’s that I like, and I could still use a few more tops for when I’m in the office, so after I learn all about our new election equipment I’ll go shopping.
The Lego Star Wars logo was delivered this afternoon! I’ll start building it after dinner. It doesn’t have many pieces, so there’s a fair chance I’ll finish it sometime tomorrow (Saturday afternoon at the latest).
I got a Wegman’s delivery at lunchtime, which means I’ll be having the other half of a big turkey-and-cheese sandwich for dinner. Yum!

PB&J with chips is the best lunch, hands down. I don’t eat it often, but there are days WHEN YOU NEED IT.
Right??

Usually something like “such a committed performance”.
Genius. (and will be stolen!)

yesterday was my final work day

I know the Windows virus scanning capability is much better these days, but I can’t seem to shake the “it sucks” memories. Heh. I switched from McAfee to Trend Micro years ago, though. One of these days I’ll cancel it…maybe.

Sticky and StickyMom are just delightful people
Yay for mini Mumpfests!
I really do intend to meet up with FCM one of these days…

I really do intend to meet up with FCM one of these days…
Yeah, I seem to recall we tentatively discussed it some eons ago…
Supper was brown-rice-and-quinoa pasta with sketty sauce. It was pretty good. Chillage for the rest of today, overhead light installing at Daughter’s tomorrow - our last task in the kids’ playroom.
SIL still needs to scrape the floor - the foam between the plywood panels needs to be level so the floor can be painted or tiled. But if you saw it 2 weeks ago, you’d be properly impressed with the progress!
I’m confused. I’ve never worked on a floor in a room half full of stuff. I’ve always considered emptying the room to be Job #1, and refilling it to be Job #last.
I know you are the Organized Queen, with your Disorganized But Awesome Problem-solver King in tow. How did this room get this way?
My daughter and her husband are, um, not tidy. And it’s at their house, not mine.
I like your adulting better than mine.
It was fun! It was so nice to meet JtC today!! This was my second glassblowing adventure and it was quite different than the first. I am looking forward to when our pieces are mailed to us after they are finished sitting.
JtC also brought us some cottage cheese that she made and it was delicious!
Ok, sleepy Sticky is going to just chill for the rest of the night.

Save yourself $50 or whatever. Cancel your subscription to that garbage, delete it off your machine, and let the built-in Windows Defender do its thing. It is widely regarded as better quality and much less of a resource hog than any consumer anti-malware system. Free too.
McAfee came with my new laptop. I wanted to get rid of bloatware and was annoyed by the constant pop-ups, so went to the uninstall app. The computer had to reboot, so I clicked yes, and after a half hour of the spinning “rebooting” thingy, I finally just did a hard reboot. PITA.

I’ve only done it a couple of times, but most recently, the inlaws had apartments, and nothing about them appealed, other than being smaller than my house.
How about Mumper Estates Retirement Community, where each of us have a small cabin and the community has a social room, exercise room and dog enclosure?

I have left something that was a significant part of my identity, and I dunno, I feel sort of at a loss and numb. It was strange not pulling out my work phone and checking for messages last night and this morning.
Hugs to you and hopes for you to discover your retirement passion.

Anywho, I am all showered and OYKW has gone to Cook Out for stoner food. I am hongry!
I got my sister hooked on stoner food while she was here. Now she’s wondering what it will take to get it in Texas.

red Yay for new bed and box springs. Have a very comfortable sleep tonight.
The new bed does sleep well! Nelson is beginning to get the hang of jumping a bit higher. I still may get stairs for him though, given that he’s eight years old and not getting any younger.
Picked up some fruit, yogurt, tomatoes and a half a rotisserie chicken at Kroger, then came home to work in the studio. Three pieces of the chicken reheated nicely, along with a salad and some Italian blend veggies made for a pretty easy supper. The breast will be made into chicken salad or some such for tomorrow evening’s supper. Now back to playing working in the studio.
Howdy Y’all! Stoner food is a good thing to eat before nappage. That was one quality nap! I haven’t described sump’n as quality in many years. Way back in kolledge, whenever sump’n was especially good it was described as quality. We thought we were quite the sophisticates when we said quality. OK, I have been right nostalgic the past couple of days. Maybe I should find some whippersnappers to yell at.
ETA: Sticky_Buns and JtC glad y’all had a good meetup. Nobody got ax murdered and a new way to annoy a cat was found. Looks like a win-win all around.
Well, swampy, with that fine best-in-neighborhood lawn I figger that if any whippersnappers wanna hang out on a nearby lawn it’sa gonna be yours. So you have that to look forward to.
I gotta know: what’s stoner food? I understand the idea behind the name, but not what it is.
I was not sure either. I’m thinking lots of chocolate.
Or maybe tacos.

I gotta know: what’s stoner food? I understand the idea behind the name, but not what it is.
It’s a tray from the southeastern USA chain Cookout. Budget friendly and an assortment that any stoner could love.
I’m glad that you enjoyed your meet up JtC and sticky!
Up from naptime. Having a Jungle Bird, salad, and Baked Fried Chicken with cheesy potatoes. Spot is having dry, flavorless bits.

Sticky and StickyMom are just delightful people

My daughter and her husband are, um, not tidy
I do notice us organized and CDO people always get a messy person assigned to them.

How about Mumper Estates Retirement Community, where each of us have a small cabin and the community has a social room, exercise room and dog enclosure?
I like the idea. Just make sure there’s a Costco nearby, so we can have enough limes for cocktail hour.
To me stoner food is anything from White Castle (or Waffle House) after 2am. But am willing to amend that.
Never made it to the gym today, breaking my streak, but by the time all the laundry was dried and folded there was a soccer game on so I had to watch that and then it was time for soccer and of course I had to eat when I got home and…I’ll try to make it up tomorrow.
Guess I’ll try and figure out how to delete McAfee and turn on Windows Defender.
FCM, yay! for new disposal and an uninjured FCD.
JtC, happy to hear about your day with Sticky Buns, and hope the motorcycle either works for him or at least doesn’t kill him.
Oopsie, happy Lego-ing.
And it’s already closing in on 9pm, so best finish my browsing and start looking forward to bedtime. Catch y’all tomorrow.

How about Mumper Estates Retirement Community, where each of us have a small cabin and the community has a social room, exercise room and dog enclosure?
I’m in. I’m an excellent cook.
This afternoon we bought a bunch of flowers, herbs, and vegetables for our vitory garden, then solaced a distressed neighbor, then planted most of what we bought, plus some other stuff that was ready to transplant. Tomorrow I’ll get more rocks and mulch at Lowes and do some yard beautifyin’.
