It’s one word. It’s Basque. Stop capitalizing the fucking ‘Z’ like Saint Zero. The ‘zero’ in my username has nothing to do with the numeral.
Thank you.

No problem Olent0
Thank you. Much better.
You know, you’re lucky I’m not still an ISer. I’d be on the phone with Sharon in Chicago right now. She’d be calling up your Conveener asking for an explanation of why you’re wsating all the time on a message board and don’t have any recruits to show for it.
[grumble grumble] :entering old man phaze:
Why, I even went around recruiting when I was on vacation. When I visited Amsterdam I recruited two people for New York and started a branch in the Netherlands, all on vacation. You people now a days, no dedication [grumble grumble]
The commies are at war with each other! Now is the time to strike! Rise up, my capitalist brothers, and strike down the thieves, malcontents and sandbox wetters!
Hell, if you think Sharon would waste her time on a matter like that, it is a good thing you’re not in the ISO anymore.
Besides, old man, if you’re such a recruiting powerhouse, how come you didn’t stay in yourself, hmm??

What’s the Basque meaning/English equivalent (if there is one)?
Olentzero is the Basque version of Santa Claus. He’s been variously described as dirty (since in some versions he’s a coal miner) and a drunkard (reportedly able to drink 250gal of wine at one sitting - top that, oldscratch) but basically good at heart, as this story translated from the Basque tells it.
This is one depiction of him.
Well if you must know why I didn’t stay in. I might as well tell you. You may recall, from other threads, that I suffer from Bipolar disorder. I’m working on it and it’s much better. But, when I was in the ISO, I would actually black out for a day or two at a time, and not remember what I did. I did some stupid stuff. Basicly, I’m out until I get myself together. It really sucked, but I understood. In the same situation, I would have done the same thing. Had to kick a few people out myself. Not easy. So here I am, trying to keep up on my debating skills, expanding my knowledge. So on and so forth.
I also do have some issues with current policy, not to much, just some minor ones.
I was in for 2.5 years, on a branch committe for 2 of those years. So on and so forth.
How about yourself Olentzero, how long you been in?
To be honest with you, oldscratch, I was not aware of your condition - haven’t read the appropriate threads. I am, however, very glad to hear you’re working on it and that re-joining the ISO is not a foregone conclusion.
Haven’t been on a branch committee; there are several comrades here in DC with much better abilities and availablity (i.e. single w/ no kids). I first joined in 1990 in Iowa, had to leave the state and lost general contact with them (bought books and all though!) and re-joined in 1994 here in DC when I went to Georgetown.
