Olives marching to Philly on Sat. 11/22

So should we infer you’re on the list?

I’m sorry. I thought I had made that clear. I’m interested. I can easily get to the gathering by SEPTA. So, I’m in.

NP – I just take “interested” to mean “thinking about it” – a “maybe” and not a “yes.” Glad you can come.

Funny thing, earlier today I was thinking to myself “I wonder why Doc hasn’t said anything yet”.

Glad I waited to say something

I’m in for dinner.

Ah, good! Sounds like we’ll have a decent turnout:

Cleophus
Doc Cathode
Meros
olivesmarch4th + olivesmarido
twickster
ultrafilter

plus, possibly, rockingchair.

And, of course, anyone else who’s just now seeing the thread and would like to join us at the Italian Bistro, Broad and Walnut, this Saturday, 6 PM.

I’ll make a reservation Saturday morning in the name of Cecil Adams.

Oh how I’d love to join everyone! I was just down in Philly to celebrate the Phillies’ World Series win and had a great time. Any excuse to visit the city would normally have me there in an instant, but alas, I’m booked this weekend. If only I’d known about this sooner :frowning:

Perhaps another time? A friend of mine has Sixers season tickets, so I’ll be in the city quite a bit over the next few months.

i’m in. i get out of work at 5pm, so the timing works perfectly!

Fuck fuck fuck. Just called for reservations – they can give us a table at 8, which I think is late. Do you want to go there at 8 or somewhere else at 6? Pietro’s, where we went last time, was good (or would have been if we had ordered a third pizza) – or there are a bunch of places on the other side of Broad Street, none of which I can think of at the moment.

What do you want to do? Decision needed ASAP – apparently the Philly Marathon is the next day, so there will be many people in town looking to eat.

I’d prefer to go elsewhere and eat at 6:00. 8:00 is a little late.

8pm would be late for me as well.

the dreaded olive garden is near by as well as marathon grill.

we have a doper in town doing the marathon this weekend!

Maggiano’s, 12th and Filbert, 5 PM – Note the time change in addition to the venue change.

If anyone wants my cell number, PM me.

The reservation is in the name of Cecil Adams.

Uh, crap. Not to rain on the parade guys, but there’s not a single thing I see on that new menu my husband can eat. I forwarded it to him to double-check and asked him to get back to me ASAP.

Roast chicken? Salmon?

Sorry – I spent an hour on the phone last night looking for a restaurant in Center City that could give us a table for eight earlier than 9 PM, and this is what I found. Have him look carefully.

Well. Whatever we end up doing Im flexible.

I won’t be near a computer tomorrow, hopefully. I’ve PMed my cell to you in case plans change during the day, twickster

For some reason that menu was shorter the first time I looked at it. He could probably have a sandwich or roast potatoes or something. He cheats on his allergies from time to time but Italian restaurants are tough. It’s difficult finding food for someone who is allergic to wheat, yeast, tomatoes, garlic, dairy, soy, most spices, vinegar, beef, chocolate, peanuts, malt, apricots, and caramel. (the menu is heaven from my point of view though. Guess he’ll have to suck it up. :p)

ETA: I just saw lamb chops. He’s golden.

Crisis averted. Isn’t it fun trying to make plans?

Just remember * he’s* the difficult one – not me.

Gosh, I really wish I could join you guys, but I haven’t lived in Philly for 28 years. However, if you end up in Bryn Mawr, you really must go visit my sister and brother-in-law—they live in the old Biddle estate (looks like a haunted mansion, on steroids) that is more fun to tour than many museums. They love meeting new people and they are the best local tour guides I know. Brother-in-law, Art, who lives to eat, would be thrilled to show you the real best places on the Main Line to get anything from cheese steaks to calves brains.
