They started out looking the same in Firefox for me, but different in IE. I came back from lunch, refreshed the page, and they’re updated in FF now.
Yeah, I saw the old ones in chrome, loaded the page in IE and saw the new ones and now I see the new ones in chrome as well.
Old smileys still here. Viewing the new version on this link … they are not improvements. 
Maybe the difference depends on which server you hit, and it takes a while before each is updated.

IMO, pretty much any time you move toward more of a pastel, it’s a mistake. I mean, I know it’s silly because they’re fucking smileys but the new ones don’t seem serious enough.
And, after all the begging in Cafe Society… still no barfy-emoticon?
I don’t care for these new ones. (Seeing them in Firefox, Ubuntu.) The old ones were cleaner and clearer.
Dammit. Now I’ll have to find a way to convey my sarcasm with words.
Please please PLEASE somebody start a petition to bring back the old “rolleyes” smiley – the new one looks totally stupid!!!

Rolleyes now looks as though he has played some nasty practical joke on someone. :rolleyes: It does not convey the same feeling at all.

Presumably Smashy is this: :smack:, which seems to be exactly the same as before. I am totally with you on Rolleyes; the rest are meh.

Agreed, barfy smiley would come in handy so often.
