This should have a NSFW warning. I clicked on the link expecting some vaguely phallic-looking thing. But no, it is quite literally a walking penis :dubious:
wow…, if the two ads are considered ‘equal’ then i’ve just learnt how biased i am when it comes to birds and cats. i went from LOL to abject horror as i watched the two clips. maybe the cat one should also come with a warning or something
The Ford ads at least have a humorous point to them. The Zune ad? I ain’t seeing it.
Dude. That’s…
I’m…
I can’t…
How…
Penis.
Well, the first one was humorous, the second (with it’s random decapitation of a cat) was far from it. I’ve got to agree that the Zune advertisement makes no sense. I tend to dislike ads that don’t even mention what they’re selling until text pops up at the end. Seriously, if they hadn’t had the put the word “Zune” and the zune-arts web site on screen at the end, I would never have guessed what it was a commercial for. Glass eyes, perhaps? Hallucinogens? Some prescription drug that allows you to grow an eyeball on the end of your penis? I would never have linked this ad back to portable media players.
But it’s cemented in my brain as “Zune = Really creepy and gross”. That can’t be a good thing for the product, can it? I had no particular problem with the product before the ad, but now I don’t think I’ll even consider one, should I have a need for it.
That is some powerful advertising, that is!
Speaking as a cat owner, I find the decaptiation one to be hysterical (but if you’re bothered by it, just think of how stupid the car is, since it now has cat blood splattered all over the inside of it, instead of paw prints on the outside).
Apologies. I didn’t mean my post to insinuate a “how dare you make me open this link”, but rather that I thought it was hilarious and embarassing. So yah, I did minimize the thread immediately, and chickle to myself… but G-dam the was a funny and odd video to look at.
that ad ensues.
I may have nightmares over that thing.
True. But I STILL ain’t buyin’ a Zune.
And NurseCarmen, it was Dr. Evil who said that. His scrotum was ritually shaved by a Zorastrian named Vilma.
Why don’t I get better grades in school? :smack:
Yup…that’s exactly how I envisioned Pen Island.
For what it’s worth, I have several CDs by the artist whose music was used for the soundtrack in that commercial. They’re really cool, fusing techno, drone, and tango.
Or at least they WERE really cool because now I will be unable to listen to the music without thinking of vomiting ass-clenching cock-monsters.
The cat and bird car commercials remind me of one I can’t seem to find on youtube at the moment… Something about a car being so durable that a suicide car bomber in front of a café sets off his explosives only to find the entire blast was contained within his car… not even bothering anyone outside of it. I remember hearing it was a prank by just a couple employees never meant to be leaked… but looked pretty professional, so I bet it was made for youtube type viewing.
And anyone know how they did the cat and dog commercials? If CGI they’re pretty good…
Meh. It didn’t look that penile to me.
Ford also claimed that the Ka commercial with the cat was ‘accidentally leaked’ by their ad agency. Of course, Ford loves kitties and would never condone such a commercial, but hey, ad guys will be ad guys, so don’t blame Ford…
Sure. Right. I think the ‘accidental leak’ story line is standard procedure for the more provocative viral ads, just to prevent PETA from protesting them or something.
Here’s the suicide bomber commercial - for the VW Polo.

What is that reference?!?!? It’s sticking in the back of my mind as something hilariously mentioned somewhere, at sometime, regarding something. But I can’t place it.
When I first read that, the phrase that popped into my head was “The Dude abides”.
