I’ve never experienced anything quite like that, but some years back, I had a bit of nasal stuffiness and sneezed out a big brown chunk of goop, and I knew exactly where it came from because I could feel my passages rebounding from not having that THING in them.
One of my cats sometimes sneezes out chunks of mucus up to the size of a pea. I took him to the vet, and she said that he’s just a “snotty” cat and not to worry unless it’s grossly bloody or he’s refusing to eat. I got a baby nasal syringe, and I swear, he knows I’m going to get it out before I decide to because he will run and hide.
Oh, Neti-wise, I use the NeilMed squeeze bottle. Easier then the old style baby teapot method. Either way, there is a minor learning curve with what angles to hold your head at so saline gets into your sinuses to wash them out, and then how to drain them out. Don’t be surprised if a get a small flood pouring out of one side or the other a couple hours later.
Good one! I remember once as a teen I did the old strong inhale thru the nose and hork out the mouth thing as I was getting over a cold - mouth completely filled with goop. I mean, to the point I had to crack open my lips to make room. Luckily, I was outside and just spit it all out on the ground. MAN, it felt good to get that out of my body!
Aside from medication remedies, I also use the NeilMed bottles, and like it better than Neti pot pitchers. Costco has a package that comes with 2 bottles, more packets than I know what to do with, and a small saline spray bottle. Boil water for 5 minutes, let cool, funnel into bottle and add one packet, shake.
