Omnibus Evil MFers in the news thread

It is also hard, however, to imagine a Trump administration doing anything against the interests of the processed food industry

I’m not sure where to put this one, but if we take the caption at face value, I think evil MFers works.

It’s not a sure thing that all of Trump’s nominees will wind up in the Cabinet. A few Republicans might discover the courage to oppose some. And even if most or all make it, opposition now avoids the stain of having kissed Trump’s ass.

Some of Bernie’s supporters seem to be saying if Trumpism is inevitable, we should relax and enjoy it.

It is a sure thing, though, that anyone who does make it onto Trump’s cabinet will be absolutely horrible. If it’s not Kennedy, it’ll be someone else even worse. If the choice comes down to, say, RFK Jr. or Andrew Tate, damage control means working with RFK Jr.

Elon: “Make sure your head is directly in front of my heart, little X.”
Kid: “My name is Kyle.”
Elon: “Fuck, this one’s got the woke mind virus. See if we can trade him for one that’s at least 15% more Aryan.”

Do any of those 159 replies to the Musk photo reference The Dead Zone?

Per the United States Attorney’s Office Western District of Texas:

A Manor man was sentenced in a federal court in Austin Wednesday to 480 months in prison for four counts of wire fraud and one count of money laundering

According to court documents, Saint Jovite Youngblood, aka Kota Youngblood, 52, committed wire fraud against his victims by claiming Mexican drug cartel members were planning to commit violence against them. Youngblood falsely claimed to have been part of the U.S. Army’s Delta Force special operations unit and offered protection to his victims from the cartels in exchange for money. Youngblood also represented that funds obtained from his victim “investors” would be paid back with a significant return on the money. Instead, Youngblood used most of the money on junkets to Las Vegas to gamble in casinos. Over the course of his scheme, Youngblood defrauded 32 victims for more than $12 million. He was arrested July 31, 2023 and convicted by a federal jury April 23, 2024.

In addition to the 40 years of imprisonment, Youngblood was ordered to pay the full restitution of $12,766,384.

Using the fear of cartels for fraud? His prison stay should be….exciting.

As exciting as Robert Fisher, who killed the little three year old girl. He lasted two weeks, and then “died” from undisclosed causes.

Throw the book hard at these scumbags.

It’s pretty obvious which one was the bait at the bar or wherever they located their victims.

Who’s sorry now?

Company sells $800-1500 AI-powered robot toys designed as socialization aids for autistic children.

Said robots fail to immediately become the next Tickle Me Elmo.

Company decides to shut down and remotely turn off the robots, causing kids’ companions to “die”, and announces that there will be no refunds and that if you bought yours on an installment plan you still have to make the rest of the payments.

Figured this one should go in the Evil thread.

Elon Musk charitable foundation somehow missed its minimum giving threshold for the third year in a row.

New tax filings show that the Musk Foundation fell $421 million short of the amount it was required to give away in 2023. Now, Mr. Musk has until the end of the year to distribute that money, or he will be required to pay a sizable penalty to the Internal Revenue Service.

Missed it by that much…

Someone else should apologize.

The Durham prosecutor who championed Mangum’s case was disbarred for lying and misconduct.

As far as I know Mikey never apologized or even admitted he did anything wrong, and played the victim all the way until he surrendered his law license.

A Montana Hospital Let Dr. Thomas Weiner Continue Practicing Despite Concerns — ProPublica.

Long read–spiked my anxiety through the roof–be warned. The sole oncologist for many years in Helena MT diagnosed people as having cancer who in fact did not–no biopsies ordered–and then killed at least one of them with chemotherapy. He would personally change people’s status without their consent to DNR/DNI from Full Code. He reportedly euthanized at least 10 patients with phenobarbital, and was a one-man opioid mill for years. He still has his license to practice…

It’d be interesting to know what the initial fine needle aspiration biopsy of the “lung cancer” patient’s neck nodule (presumably a lymph node?) was actually diagnosed as in the pathology report. Highly atypical epithelial cells “most likely consistent with metastatic carcinoma” is not standard path terminology; such a finding is usually expressed as “suspicious” for metastatic carcinoma, and if adequate cellular material is present, a cell block preparation (like a mini-biopsy) is made to confirm the atypical cells are epithelial and whether or not they come from the lung. Lacking sufficient material for further evaluation, an excisional biopsy and/or biopsy of the suspected lung lesion would normally be done.

Wonder why ProPublic didn’t get more information from the pathologist(s).

Well, is ProPublica made up primarily of folks trained in medicine, or folks trained in journalism (and by “journalism,” I mean internet/social media journalism)?

Any news outlet that aims to do serious investigative journalism in medicine/health needs to either have experts on staff or to consult them to interpret evidence and supply leads.

Often these organizations fall short.

Overall, ProPublica seems to have done a good job here.

Also, this is in active litigation where ALL the defendants are trying to cover up as much as possible, if not from the courts, then certainly the public, so the amount of information PP has is pretty incredible. The first half of this article ran in the Bozeman paper yesterday, including the “unbleeped curse words.”
