Entering the US without permission is a misdemeanor, a minor violation of law.
But Trumplikins keep maintaining that these people are illegal and “they’re breaking the law”. Trump is actually treating them as if they are hardened, violent, criminals. There are reports of children being deported in chains and leg restraints (I have not been able to confirm those). It’s all show, and part of the narrative that ALL immigrants are a danger and a threat to “Real Americans”.
So no, it’s not just for the sake of cruelty, there’s a propaganda message here, too. Along with being cruel and deliberately cruel.
Whether cruelty or propaganda it boils down to the same thing: “A boot stomping on a human face—forever.”

The Supreme Court of New Mexico has overturned the murder conviction of a woman who prosecutors accused of witchcraft.
I know that some prosecutions are labeled as witch hunts, but that’s usually not literal.

Shouldn’t the judge step in at some point? I mean, I see that the defense attorney was called out for not objecting to these statements, but at some point you’d think the judge would put an end to it instead of allowing it to go on for days.

Yes, why the attorney didn’t object should probably be looked into, but again, shouldn’t the judge have talked to the prosecution especially since, I’m guessing based on the article, they’d have had a pretty good case without the theatrics.

Though I don’t think this raises to the level of “evil”. He was definitely stupid 30 years ago, but if what’s alleged is true, the gun was unloaded and he was carrying it as a result of threats against his life. What he did with it is stupid, and lying about it was shitty, but I’m not sure it’s evil.
