Along the eastern side of Puget Sound, yes. And that’s enough to throw prit’ near any statewide race or ballot issue leftward. But go to Forks or Morton, or over to the dryside, and the climate changes dramatically.
[We now return you to the regularly scheduled “Evil MFers” thread.]
According to this AOL article, and American woman is being held after an infant was defenstrated.
An American woman was being held in police custody in Paris on Monday following the death of a newborn baby, who was thrown from the window of a hotel in the 20th arrondissement, authorities said.
In a statement shared with NBC News, the Paris prosecutor’s office said the newborn was believed to have been thrown from a window on the second floor of the hotel sometime during the morning.
Sorry, I can’t be that full of schadenfreude when the possible bad consequences could include a frail, elderly woman dependent on dialysis possibly winding up in the tender clutches of ICE. Because I’m pretty sure that would end badly.
I just can’t enjoy the physical suffering of other human beings. Even those who make bad choices that come back to bite them. Even when their bad choices cause problems for the rest of us. I can be angry, sure, frustrated, a lot of things. But I don’t enjoy the pain of others.
So far immigration has not come knocking for that family. Hope it never does.
Huh. First I’ve heard of it. I guess it just goes to show…
…that the NBA isn’t important enough for me to pay attention to, so all the billionaire team owners should just pack it in and give all their money toward constructing a meaningful social safety net.
Actually, so do I. I want them to live for months wondering if or when the brownshirts are going to come and take their abuela away to God knows whatever fate is in store for her. Sometimes people don’t learn a lesson until their nose gets rubbed in it. As of November 5, 2024 I no longer ave any fucks to give them.
I’ve lived life as an illegal immigrant. Granted, I am white, so it was easy for me. But fuck me sideways, do you really want people to live in fear, or is this just hyperbole?
Nitpick: Howard Schultz sold the team (and the WNBA Storm) to OKC businessman Clay Bennett, who pinky-swore that the Sonics were safe in Seattle. IIRC, according to emails and other communications that came to light, Bennett was already planning the move if he didn’t get financing for a new arena. He didn’t, but (again, IIRC) he hardly made any effort.
I voted so that they wouldn’t have to live in fear.
If their children and grandchildren voted differently, it’s on their head, not mine, even if I decide to laugh at them when they voted to put their own grandma in chains. I’m going to sleep fine with that because I know that keep in their hearts, they wanted someone to suffer, so it may as well be them.
