You can criticize a person’s decision that put them in danger, without totally blaming the victim or saying that the consequences were justified.
If a person decides to walk alone in a dark alley at night in a bad neighborhood and gets robbed, you can say that it serves as a lesson for having better judgement, and at the same time want to see justice against the person who committed the crime and hope that the victim gets restitution if possible.
A woman in Rochester Minnesota calls a 5-year-old Somali boy the N-word, accusing him of taking her son’s stuff. She then repeats herself.
She then claims being harassed when the video is posted on Facebook. So she decides she needs to raise a million dollars, of which over $300,00 has already been donated. Unbelievable.
No, not unbelievable. Bigoted assholes are the ones in power right now, and decent people are not. They no longer have to hide their bigotry and hatred.
Sadly, this is going to lead to copycatting. In a tough economy, when people are suffering financially, a significant number of folks are going to take the wrong lesson when they see that calling someone racial epithets can make them more money in 1 week than 20 years old hard work.
Hell, if I thought it would get me a bunch of money I’d make up a fake slur and claim I was being persecuted. Guilt-free money! /s

I’d hope the crowdfunding site would recognize this and refuse to pay out. They do shut down scams, perhaps they’ll recognize that this isn’t a type of scenario they want to support.

My name is Shiloh and I have been put into a very dire situation. I recently had a kid steal from my 18month old sons diaper bag at a park. I called the kid out for what he was. Another man, who we recently found out has had a history with law enforcement, proceeded to record me and follow me to my car. He then posted these videos online which has caused my family, and myself, great turmoil. My SSN has been leaked. My address, and phone number have been given out freely. My family members are being attacked. My eldest child may not be going back to school. Even where I exercise has been exposed.
I am asking for your help to assist in protecting my family. I fear that we must relocate. I have two small children who do not deserve this. We have been threatened to the extreme by people online. Anything will help! We cannot, and will not live in fear!

She claimed that the child “took her son’s stuff”, verbally assaulted the child, calling him the “N-word”, then got recorded on video ranting about the incident. The video got a lot of views, and at some point the woman was doxxed, forcing her to move.
We live in a world where “adults” engage with children as children themselves. It is difficult to discern how a situation like this should be viewed. The woman acted like an asshole and deserves the FAFO prize, but it seems as though she was never properly trained in decent behavior, so it is not entirely her fault. But, of course, the fact that she raised a lot of money based on she was a racist asshole is a bad thing that needs to be discouraged.
