Omnibus Evil MFers in the news thread

I was able to access the article via the original link twice for free.

On my Android phone.

On attempt #3 just now I got the subscribe ad blocking the story, apparently from going to the well once too often.

Access experiences differ. Try providing an alternate link minus the sniffy tone next time.

Given your reaction, I was being a bit too restrained.

Someone’s carrying make believe just a tetch too far.

Crank magnetism kills.

The implication here is the “groom” wasn’t a creeper, just somebody who had an idea for a outrage-triggering video that would generate a LOT of clicks from both creepers and outraged normies.

I’m not sure I’d categorize that as Evil. Unless we want to characterize most “influencers” as Evil. I think they’re harmful, but if the Evil category is to retain any meaning at all, we probably don’t want to dump 25% of the folks under 30 into that bucket.

So he’s either a groomer or a troll (or indeed both). Either high-grade or low-grade evil, or something in-between. Still comes across as a not-good person nonetheless.

Or someone trying to film a really weird movie without getting Disney’s location permissions, which is a whole other issue.

Scumbag for sure. Evil? Perhaps. I’m not invested enough to figure it out.

Seems more Stupid MFer than Evil MFer.

Lotta folks seem to believe any remote hint of pedophilia is proof positive worthy of summary execution. IMO those folks are wrong. But there are millions of them.

It’s been done.

The film drew attention, because Moore had shot most of it on location at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Park without permission from The Walt Disney Company, owner and operator of both properties. Due to Disney’s reputation of being protective of its intellectual property, the cast and crew used guerrilla filmmaking techniques to avoid attracting attention, such as keeping their scripts on their phones and shooting on handheld video cameras similar to those used by park visitors.[3] After principal photography was complete, Moore was so determined to keep the film a secret from Disney that he edited it in South Korea. Sundance similarly declined to discuss the film in detail before it was shown. It has been called “the ultimate guerrilla film”.[4] Rather than suppressing the film as Moore claimed would happen, Disney chose to ignore it.[5]

Good god. My brain hurts. That plotline is insane. Even just reading about it is hard.

I should probably watch it.

For a bit of historical evil, I learned about this remarkable person just the other day. Surprisingly, a story about a (possible serial) murderer who was also a counterfeiter and a priest hasn’t yet been made into a series or movie as far as I know.

Hmm…

Schmidt couldn’t compete with this guy when it comes to killings.

An antivax U.K. doc found to have harassed fellow physicians (and who previously got into trouble for accusing a well-known British TV presenter of pedophilia) has been “struck off” the medical register - the equivalent of losing his license to practice.

Among the charges proven against him was improperly issuing a Covid-19 vaccine exemption certificate, and posting on social media personal details of another doc who refused to hire him, paving the way for his many Twitter followers to harass her. Much of his bad behavior wasn’t even considered by the General Medical Council, including numerous nonsensical antivax postings, support for dodgy (love that term) medical treatments and virulent anti-Semitic posts.

A real doll.

Why didn’t they appoint him to head the NHS? He’s obviously qualified.

If he follows in the footsteps of a more famous struck-off U.K. doctor, Andrew Wakefield, he’ll come to the U.S. to lure in a new herd of followers (Brave Maverick Doctors are worshipped by a certain class of credulous fools) and make his fortune. Wakefield parlayed his antivax status into a lucrative job with an autism group and an Austin, Texas estate.

Cartland has been making noises about establishing a new U.K. practice combining “allopathic” medicine and naturopathy, which supposedly would enable him to avoid regulatory oversight. It probably won’t end well.

Yeah, he should definitely move to Texas. A) no regulations, and B) more fools. He’d be a hit there in minutes.

He even looks vaguely like a younger Ted Cruz.

There is a fire in Idaho and some asshole shoots at firefighters responding to it. At the moment it’s believed that two firefighters are dead.

Fire crews from Kootenai County Fire and Rescue and Coeur d’Alene Fire Department were responding to a small wildland fire around 1:20 p.m. on Canfield Mountain, east of Coeur d’Alene. Around 2 p.m., a suspect with “modern-day sporting” weapons began shooting at them, Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris said during a press conference Sunday.

Pat Riley, Northern Lakes fire chief, said it quickly turned into an “ambush-style active shooter,” and one of his personnel had to be pulled out and taken to the nearest fire station.

The two people confirmed killed in the ambush were likely firefighters, Norris said. Other casualties were reported, but Norris said it’s unclear how many. It’s also unclear if there is one suspect or multiple, he said. When firefighters reported the shots, they said they felt them coming from different directions.

It’s a developing story so details are sparse.
