Omnibus Evil MFers in the news thread

German police have detained a suspect.

The suspect was detained at a refugee shelter following a major manhunt which saw authorities establish “extensive search measures” throughout the German state of North Rhine Westphalia and deploy special forces. Police had earlier arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the incident, but said he was not the alleged attacker.

“We have just recently arrested the real suspect. And now he’s being questioned and everything else is being clarified and then we can also say: Are we right? Do we have enough evidence? I can only tell you that it’s now more than just an assumption,“ Northrhine-Westfalia’s interior minister Herbert Reul told German public broadcaster ARD on Sunday.

Very sad that we weren’t able to kill every last one of these Taliban assholes during the war.

Which force is she working for now?

Given that she was actually charged, convicted, did 18 months in prison and is now on extended supervision, I’m guessing most PDs wouldn’t want her.
Also, keep in mind that she wasn’t doing this as part of her job, so she doesn’t have any qualified immunity to fall back on.

If I had to guess, if she’s still wearing a uniform, she’s probably private security.

I hope that a conviction like that would bar her from even a job in private security.

Fail to forget that Islam (not uniquely among religions) has a fondness for martyrs. Eradicating the Taliban would very likely result in something worse taking their place, probably partly in the name of the dead heroes. And bin Laden was still alive for years after the Taliban were chased out: he would have been beating the drum for devout Muslims to rise up to right that wrong.
Honestly, if I were running things, religious leaders would all be in prison, with no channels of communication. It is fine to believe whatsoever you believe, but making use of belief for any form of profit is just not ok.

I hope this includes the lust for power, which I think is a much stronger drive for many religious leaders than money.

money is power, especially in the quantities that some of those orgs collect

Some get power through money, some get it in other ways.

I’m not 100% that he’s a Republican so I didn’t put it there. Working for FOX doesn’t mean always GOP, of course. I hope he gets a very severe punishment.

A Fox local affiliate station does not necessarily, and most of the time doesn’t, have any connection to Fox News. Fox is also a network, separate from Fox News.

The local Fox station up here in the Seattle area does not resemble Fox News in any way except the name “Fox”. Their news folks are normal journalists giving real news.

^ True. The MAGA station hereabouts is the ABC affiliate, owned by Sinclair.

And KOMO (and KATU in Portland) participated in this little 'independent" stunt: Sinclair requires anchors to read script bashing ‘fake’ news (youtube.com)

Maybe, but their content and presentation does not come close to the quality of the NBC affiliate.

I usually watch KING, yeah.

‘’ 'Twas research"!

“Yeah, they got her good, but we’re going to beat this at trial.”

Wut?

Maybe the strategy here is to build a future appeals case based on ineffectiveness of counsel?
