Chinese Women Spark Fury After Locking Crying Toddler in Plane Toilet
Two passengers on a Chinese domestic flight have landed in hot water after taking a crying toddler away from her grandparents and locking her in a restroom in order to “set some rules.”
The incident went viral across Chinese social media over the weekend after one of the women, Gou Tingting, posted video footage of herself and another passenger disciplining the child inside the locked lavatory.
“If you make any noise again, we will leave you here alone,” one of the women can be heard telling the wailing girl in the clip.
And why did’t these women get charged?
Guizhou Airport Public Security Bureau has declined to charge Gou or the other woman involved with any offense, telling local media that the child’s grandparents had given consent to the two women to help deal with the child.
ISTM the Public Security Bureau (that’s the police) doesn’t understand the concept of bullying. It’s certainly not a stretch that these women bullied the grandparents and then the child.
Pelicot is said to have sedated his wife by putting tablets of a powerful anxiolytic drug into her evening dinner. He then invited strangers from the online forum into the couple’s bedroom, so that his wife could be raped while unconscious. All were told to wash their hands, and not to wear aftershave, so she would not sense they were strangers.
Yes, one husband might be just crazy or at least disturbed, but 50+ other guys who went along and thought it was just fine? If the facts are as stated, I hope they all go to prison for a long time.
I know I’m naive but it’s hard to imagine there are so many people who would do such a thing.
Yes, I realize there are lots of bad people out there, but I have trouble imagining how one person could bring themselves to do such a thing, let alone a community. It just seems so alien to me.
It’s like, intellectually I realize things like this exist, but it’s hard to believe it.
Then you wonder, how many people have I met in my life that could be like this without me knowing. That would rape if given the opportunity. That collect and get off on rape imagery. That fantasize about it. It’s terrifying.
Do “you”, the husband that had this idea, even know 50 people who would do that without reservation, without telling anyone, without saying “no, you’re one sick fuck”? And how would you screen them? I’m trying to imagine asking my friends and acquaintances, “hey, ya wanna come over and rape my wife”?
In the article, it sounded like it was a “community” that developed online. Self-identifiers, IOW. If there’s one thing we’ve learned, there’s nothing like the Internet for assembling disgusting cohorts.
In fact, Pelicot was allegedly a serial rapist who moved his family from greater Paris in 1991, and later allegedly set up the sex ring. It involved advertising on a site for ‘partners’ on an online forum called ‘Without Her Knowing’.
Participants would discuss performing acts on unwitting partners, and then film their depravity, before storing the videos on a USB drive dubbed ‘Abuses’.
This is a disgusting proposal. What are you expecting to see with your bowl of popcorn? A crowd of rabid vigilantes tearing the husband limb from limb? Is that what you get off on?
There were also 70 or so other men who participated in raping this woman. I wonder (actually, I don’t, but for the sake of rhetoric) what you think would be an appropriate punishment for them.
I would be happy for them all to go to jail for a long, long time. Especially given that some of them also appear to have other “issues” that the authorities may want to ask them uncomfortable questions about.
The idea of mob justice, like the idea of jail rape, may make one feel better in the face of reading about such atrocities, but the reality would be bad for society as a whole. Vigilantism and torture aren’t banned because they’re bad for bad people; they’re banned because they’re bad for everyone including the people carrying them out.
Also, not to sound cynical, but some folks will just shrug. They have too much to do to engage in vigilante action. That sh*t takes time and is illegal.
I’m witcha, Baker - just like you I would hope a couple of dozen each of shrinks and bible-thumpers would surround the monster and yammer at him for hours until he throws his hands up and walks away as a re-incarnated Albert Schweitzer. Same treatment for his 50 or 70 helpers. And won’t I feel pleased when my wishes come true!
