I saw when it happened and was like, yup, Yankees fan, no surprise there.
Update: MLB told the Yankees that these guys would not be attending the game tonight. They will be subject to arrest if they try to enter the stadium.
I believe that Yankees fan was a season ticket holder, so any thought being given to revoking his season tickets in the future?
From ESPN:
A source told ESPN’s Jesse Rogers earlier Wednesday that it was not immediately clear whether the ban against Austin Capobianco, a season-ticket holder, and John Peter would apply to any Yankee Stadium games next season.
Now, from the same article, this pisses me off:
Capobianco told Rogers that the Yankees refunded him the cost of the tickets for Game 5
It’s annoying, yes, but I’d rather not see the Yankees (and possibly MLB) hand this douchebag a cause for civil action.
OTOH, I’d be pleased to see him get a lifetime ban from Yankee Stadium and from the Yankee’s season ticket holder roster. What the fuck does this mean?
And this?
Hooliganism is NOT for baseball (even the ersatz imitation of baseball that teams using Designated Hitters play); it’s for English soccer and NFL fans.
They both need to be banned from every MLB stadium for life, if not longer.
We need a thumbs up icon. I so agree with you.
I wonder if the Dodgers have a Cause of Action against these two. They did, with malice aforethought, attempt to deprive The Dodgers of a very valuable asset. That they failed is beside the point. They conspired to cause damage to The Dodgers.
Sic a couple of West Coast lawyers on their asses. Drive them into the wilderness to be consumed by wild beasts. Get medieval on those mfers.
I come from the British tradition where unsportsmanlike behaviour* is wrong. Tampering with the ball? Several matches excluded. Punching in the scrum? Definitely a season abeyance. I would certainly consider the wild beasts, but the medieval could be too much.
* let us ignore the abomination of diving and cheating that is British football league.
WWE hands out lifetime bans to fans who jump the barricade or throw stuff at the ring or otherwise try to interfere with the show. I’m surprised that a glorified carnival sideshow slash soap opera for dudes is stricter on this stuff than a legitimate sporting organization which literally has a government-granted monopoly.
But the " : + 1 : " is only four characters so you have to add one more thing. Or do it twice.
Of course, if you try to jump in a WWE ring, you’re an enormous idiot anyway. Those folks are huge.
In case you’re interested, this jabroni is only 38 years old. I genuinely thought he was in his 50s. I guess moral bankruptcy has not been kind to him.
Don’t feel too bad - if it wasn’t you, it’d be someone/something else. This morning I was trying to avoid news about last night’s game and still ended up seeing a headline about people in Japan celebrating Ohtani. Then my wife got up, fired up her iPad, and Apple News splashed the game results right there on the lock screen. It’s a modern hazard, I guess.
It’s not as if he has much of a life, if this is one of the biggest highlights of it. National exposure as a thug is still … national exposure, so there’s that. This will be his big topic of conversation ad nauseum for the rest of his life. He can’t top it, but you can bet he will try to repeat it.
Maybe they can immortalize it in a L&O episode! Bartman!
Maybe if it involves the murder of the surrogate I’d watch.
As he says, he “patrols that wall and they know it.” This is clear evidence he’s done similar interfering things before. I don’t know how specific “premeditation” has to be before it legally becomes premeditation.
Obviously this was a crime of opportunity. OTOH, a guy who walks down the street jiggling every car door handle until he finds the unlocked one to ransack is also both opportunistically selecting which car to ransack but is premeditatedly seeking out the opportunity to ransack some car with each jiggled handle.
The turdbird was / is doing exactly the same thing conceptually.
Yeah, I know he was later suspended, but he wasn’t ejected from the game for this.
PR worker attacks Muslim, is fired by Pagan.
I really wanted to say “Christian” instead of PR worker, but despite some digging I couldn’t find explicit proof of what is almost certainly true. (She looks kinda demonic in the video.)
