In wondering who’s behind the “bots and trolls,” he’s just now figuring out that it was a bad thing when Russia did it, so he’s hoping he can deflect blame to them for his own implosion. He thinks Facebook and Wikipedia are purposely trying to smear him instead of making his fairy tale dreams come true. How did this shit-for-brains get rich?
Or, perhaps he simply recognizes that the best way to become a high-earning RW media talking head and grifter is to just keep up a continuous patter of JAQing about nebulous misdeeds of the nefarious lefties and their evil commie lapdog MSM.
He is selling exactly what his audience is craving.
Perhaps he’s not nearly so stupid as he is evil. Definitely rather megalomaniacal, but that’s common enough in entrepreneurs both successful and failed. See also Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, and Elizabeth Holmes. This guy is just farming his trade in the political fake propaganda sphere, not the IT, e-commerce, or medical sphere. Which is far more societally harmful, but not really so different when viewed strictly as a business model / revenue generating scheme.
As fun as you make it to speculate, you’re making the same assumptions about the MyPillow guy as many of us did about Trump. He can’t be that stupid. He has to be faking it. You’re forgetting that these guys got rich by appealing to Joe Six Pack. They’re master salesmen. That quality requires charisma, not brains.

It also requires a modicum of business sense and, of course, some good fortune. A person may hit upon an idea for a product and figure out how to market it properly, hire the right people to manage the business, introduce it to the public at just the right time, and make a fortune. You don’t have to be a genius, as you say you might not even be particularly smart in a general sense.
Bands can have one hit and then have nothing else (one hit wonders) and so can entrepreneurs.

No, he acknowledges that but says, if they’re being sued, then why stop saying the things they’re already being sued for?

They shouldn’t, but they do. And as far as I’m concerned, until such a day as everyone gets protected in jail and prison, these guys can just suck it. They can dish it out, but they can’t take it. Sucks to be them.

I used to be one of the main conflict of interest people on Wikipedia, and helped form some of the procedures there. I practically ran the Conflict of Interest Noticeboard (COIN). When I got nominated administrator, a lot of it was from my COI work. Promoting stuff is definitely not okay there. I mediated with a number of celebrities (mostly their PR people) and some political campaigns. (Including Newt Gingrich’s campaign guy once upon a time, who believe it or not was pretty cool and very reasonable.)

if only there were a way to determine if someone did something worth punishing. Some sort of process where you could follow to make sure you are given the rights you are due. Whatever would we call such a process? Since that’s obviously impossible, I guess we should just support equal violence for everyone.
If only there was some way to give equal treatment under the law. Some sort of guiding document for the country’s legal system. Where all people are treated with respect and fairness. Since we don’t have a system like that, I guess we should just accept some people get to go to trial, and some get shot in their cars.
Until that day, I fully support priviledged white boys experienceing the judicial system equally to how persons of color experience it. If we can’t have fairness and justice, let’s at least have equality.
