Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 1)

Ugly Americans!

I’m not sure why you posted that in this thread, but when I was young I had a viral infection (that’s what they think it was) that caused extreme pain in my joints. I couldn’t walk or move my arms. It was horrible. It lasted a few days and went away.

American tourist smashes two sculptures in the Vatican

“The 2 busts have been damaged but not particularly badly. One lost part of a nose and an ear, the head of the other came off the pedestal.”

Yes, ‘American behaving badly’. But the headline is misleading.

Those ancient Romans built things to last.

Destroying solid rock is hard

Who knew?

I don’t think his chances of seeing the pope have improved any.

Might have improved if a crozier is good for whacking. Holds out ring “Approach, my son…” >whop!<

A good punch with the fisher’s ring between the eyes should suffice.

What? Is it like The Phantom’s Skull Ring?

It’s rather like…St. Keith’s skull ring:

Presenting Kansas Man:

The Kansas man on the back, 30-year-old Dustin Michael Slocum, was found standing on the rear rails of the trailer hanging onto the door bar.

The distance from Wichita to Guthrie is nearly 130 miles.

Slocum told deputies he had hopped on in hopes of finding his wife (in Kansas).

I was wondering what they could charge him with, but I see the article mentions at the end “intoxication” (well, that fits) and … joyriding? I can’t see how that fits the definition. Criminal stupidity, yeah. If anything you could as easily charge the driver of the truck with unsafe passenger hauling. I mean, we only have the driver’s word the guy was freeloading.

I guess that means when Marty McFly skitched a ride on his skateboard, that was “joyriding”?

Kansas probably has a different definition of what it means.

I mean, WTF?

To much surprise, the driver of the truck was taken aback as to what had just happened.

I don’t know why anyone would be surprised that the driver was taken aback by a rando hanging onto his truck for 130 miles like redneck Jackie Chan. I expect that would shock most anyone.

If the dude hopped on as the truck was leaving the shipping yard, the driver wouldn’t have any idea that he was back there.

He would have been on there for close to two hours. I wonder how much longer he could have held on.

This happened a couple of blocks from our house.

A Bellingham man, reportedly celebrating his release from jail, was allegedly speeding at a rate of 80-90 mph on Birch Bay Drive when he crashed into an 84-year-old driver October 1.

The speed limit on Birch Bay Drive is 25 mph, and it’s double-yellow lines all the way. A homeowner’s security camera captured the driver’s car at an estimated 75 mph as he illegally passed another vehicle seconds before the crash. (Someone on Nextdoor said 72 mph.) Per a Nextdoor post, the 84-yeah-old woman was returning from church, having buried her daughter that day or the day before (I forget which). She was treated at the hospital in Bellingham and released. I looked the guy up on Facebook, and he really looks like a winner (not). Here’s his booking notice:

Pickett: ‘Yay! I’m outta jail!’

Sheriff: ‘Guess where you’re going!’

36 1/6 detainees are demanding to be transferred to Guantanamo and complain that critical race theory is being forced on them.

This shit grinds my gears.

This asshole needs to have his driving privileges revoked, permanently.

And if he is ever caught in the future driving without said privileges, he has shown that he is a danger to the public, and he should be jailed. Permanently wouldn’t hurt my feelings.

I am in favor of drunk drivers having their vehicles confiscated.

Likewise for anyone letting a known repeat offender use their vehicle.

That’s not going to stop him from driving. We have to be committed to putting people in jail for extended periods of time or they’re just going to continue to drive illegally.
