To be clear(er), I wasn’t blaming them, just trying to understand how that would work. Then I realized it was high school, and yeah, pressure to conform is immense. I do hope that they are having some interesting conversations with their parents and/or others about this. I also hope (against hope) that this might have a beneficial effect on how the history of US slavery is taught in the district.

Went to a doctor for horrible pain in my elbow. They thought the joint might be infected and that could lead to amputation. Great.
They asked me my pain level. I tried to move my elbow a little bit, nearly fell out of the chair and broke out in a sweat.
The doctor told me that it’s a level 10, and sent me to the ER. The elbow is fine now. Nobody really knows what the problem was.
