Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 1)

Did the article specify what kind of gun it was?
There is one gun that does seem to randomly fire in the right circumstances and people have been shot in the leg while bending over due to this issue.

What if it was a Glock? No safety there, at least not in the normal sense of the word (ie a physical switch that the user manually moves to turn the safety on/off).

I know you put accidental in scare quotes so I’m sure you get it, but just for the record I’d like to point out there is no such thing. I’m a gun owner and I’ve been through formal firearms safety training. There are no accidental discharges, only negligent discharges. That’s the term generally used. If the gun went off when you didn’t mean for it to, then someone screwed up.

Without knowing the details of the gun it’s hard to say what was done wrong, but clearly something was.

I don’t think scare quotes would be the right term. Maybe sarcastic quotes is closer in instances like this.

No, but the owner claimed the safety was on, so it had one.

I don’t think I would have wanted my kids in that corn pit when they were little. I’d be unhappy with the grands going in it. It just looks dangerous even without some idiot flopping around in it with a loaded gun.

I just don’t understand why these people have to walk around armed in the most innocuous situations.

In all seriousness, a actual need for a gun(however rare) can happen anywhere.

That picture instantly reminded me of this, specifically when they talk about getting stuck in the grain like quicksand. Not that that’s a concern in what’s probably 8 or 12 inches of (unmoving) corn, but it was still the first thing I thought of.

Well, so far the odds are greater that someone will shoot themselves at that site then that some bad guy with bad intentions will show up and some random armed person will stop them.

You also don’t know when you’ll need an axe (however rare that event might be), but you don’t see people carrying those around.

I won’t argue the point. However, I am familiar with people from working at my job, who pack guns around on their hips, and they have no discernible reason to carry them.

Seriously, I know I’m judging here, and I really don’t care, these people are dumb. I figure if the dumb gun toters get their heart’s desire, and someone tries to rob my store or some other “gun worthy” event happens; someone will get shot. It probably will be me, one of my co-workers, or an innocent random customer. This is a very small town, there has been virtually no gun violence and not much violent crime.

I just think that carrying a gun around is risky for little to no benefit. Especially when I wouldn’t trust most the people packing around here with the safety box cutter (almost useless) that we use at work.

Right wing radical British commentator Katie Hopkins claims she came into the US without a vaccination through the southern border, and challenges Biden to arrest her.

He should put out a statement. “Being stupid is not a crime!”

I won’t be the least bit surprised when someone pops up with proof that she entered entirely legally, with all her paperwork in order and cleared customs at an airport. Probably even got a stamp on her passport to prove it.

Assuming she did, in fact, enter legally, it would be a bit amusing to arrest her since she freely admitted to breaking the law and let her prove to a judge that she was just joking.
Or maybe she’s hoping to be deported so she gets a free ride home (but then we should probably just drop her over the Mexican border, right?).

Realistically, though, refer her “case” to Abbot’s office, assuming she came in via Texas, and let him figure it out. Let him decide if he’s going to arrest her or not.

I guess the GOP is correct! Undesirable people who want to harm us cross the border illegally all the time!

I think INS should arrest her, put her in a cage in Texas for a while, and deport her to Honduras.

Bonus points if they take Mr Pillow and traitor Flynn.

Maybe I’ll start doing that!

To be honest, there have been times it would have been nice to have an axe (at least a hatchet) available. I can’t think of a time where I’ve needed a gun (thank goodness). They’re fun to shoot at the range now and then.

But it should be painful.

in this case, it seems that it was

Mehmet Oz says he thinks that abortion choice should be between a woman, her doctor, and local political leaders.

‘Local political leaders’ sounds very Soviet.

I’m hearing that now they are sending cops to watch the ballot box watchers. I was kinda hoping to get harassed when I dropped my ballot off. I had Trumpy hubs in the car with me and his brain might have asploded at being forced to defend his wife’s right to vote a liberal ticket.
