I found a bit of Indian Village footage (2:55 mark):

Much better than the nonsense inside the Golden Horseshoe, IMO. Which I only knew about thanks to the Disney Channel’s late night programming, before they replaced old “Wonderful World of Disney” and Mouseketeer stuff with repeats of their teen angst crap.

the original Uncle Remus stories are traditional African-American folk stories that I wish someone would bring back.

This book (and I imagine the sequels, but I have not read those) incorporates the characters from those stories:

I’ve got a copy. I highly doubt there a many people who would have the patience to read these. Harris wrote the stories phonetically in a rural African-American dialect which is not easy to read and understand.

Honestly this kind of annoys me too. All of the classic attractions having to be “updated” all the time. A few that I remember:

Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse → Tarzan Tree House
20000 Leagues under the sea → Nemo’s journey (or whatever)
The old autobahn → something “Cars” related
Bear Country → Winnie the Pooh
(probably more that I can’t think of right now)

I guess it’s the thought of getting old and seeing my childhood fading away piece by piece.

Ever since Disney bought the MCU, I’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop and give us:
Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse → Tarzan Treehouse → I Am Groot.
