People do stupid shit around the edge of the canyon every day. People fall into the canyon and die on a regular basis. The tourist areas of the canyon are also usually pretty crowded, so if he was pushed or tossed, it would have been seen.

The Skywalk, while at the edge of the Grand Canyon, is not in the National Park but rather Grand Canyon West on the Hualapai reservation. I would imagine any investigation would be by tribal police and/or Mohave county deputies.
I think, but I’m not sure…murders on NA reservations are also under Federal jurisdiction because the state or county has no jurisdiction on NA lands.
My only cite for this is my personal experience on Federal jury duty for a murder between tribe members on an Apache reservation. (It was a horrible story of grinding poverty and alcoholism. Very ugly, do not recommend.)
However, I take out of state friends to the Grand Canyon on a regular basis and every single tour guide we have had talks about idiots who fell into the canyon by doing stoopid stuff. Selfie pics have been the leader lately cause folks looking at their tech toy move for the best pic while forgetting where they are standing.

…I worked for an Indian tribe and had to work with the FBI and a US attorney for a while because they were the ones with jurisdiction after a cyberattack. Also, I drove a GSA fleet vehicle when I worked there. Feds have jurisdiction over tribes and tribal lands.
Thank you. That’s what I thought I had remembered, but the case itself was so ugly that I wanted to forget everything I had seen and heard and while it didn’t really go away, it came to mind less often.
