Nope, this is Florida. She planned the double murder of the dad and his girlfriend at the parking lot rendezvous, drove to execute her plan with the 5 kids in the car, then tried to escape with the 5 kids in the car and ended up in a 100mph police pursuit.
Couldn’t find a babysitter I guess.

No, she was 23 years old, and had a six-year-old son. So she was about 17 when she had him.
I get the feeling none of the children in that family have/had much hope of breaking out of lives where a 14-year-old carries a gun.
I’ve called her that most of my adult life. Not to her face; I had better survival instincts. She did love me and want the best for me. As long as she decided what was best and I always did what she wanted. You’d think that my mommy issues would be resolved at the age of 64, but you would be wrong. 
Obviously your mistake was that you didn’t get “over” those issues by treating your own kids in exactly the same way.

True. I did not and do not treat them that way. They have their issues obviously, but by and large they are decent enough people. Amusingly, when I leave a message for my younger son on his phone, I always say, “This is your momster. Call me back.”
I feel bad for these families and their kids. This is going to be some multi generational trauma.
