Like the trial of Pope Formosus?
“Shoot, man, you don’t eat a pig like that all at once!”
Sort of. In this case, the decision would be permanent.
Brazilian mayoral candidate chair attack!
And of course the attacker is a right-wing nut.
“Oooo! Now a huge cage has dropped from the ceiling! It’s Hell In A Cell! Mah Gawd!”
So is the victim, from my understanding.
Teamsters?
Do me a solid?
Go fuck yourselves?
A new law recently went into effect in Pennsylvania, which until recently had one of the strictest alcohol sales regimes in the country, allowing the sale of canned cocktails at convenience stores. To celebrate the occasion, Governor Josh Shapiro did a PR visit at a convenience store in the greater Harrisburg area to buy a can of a locally-produced sweet tea vodka.
He didn’t have his ID with him and the cashier had to refuse the sale.

How rad if he’d pulled out a McLovin ID though.
Shapiro’s a savvy guy - are we sure he didn’t do it on purpose?
It’s a good story, but I can also understand why a governor might not have his ID with him all the time. He’s probably got a professional driver for security reasons. Everybody at work knows him by sight. Apart from a photo-op buying sweet tea vodka, what would he need ID for?
Does the governor of Pennsylvania have any sort of official portrait? It would have been awesome if he’d gone back to the Capitol, taken a big oil painting off the wall, and then gone back to the convenience store.
“That could be a forgery. I’m majoring in Art History.”
I had that thought. I voted for him, a huge fan, and I could see it.
I’m putting this here because I can’t see how it helps him, it doesn’t fit in the Ukraine threads, and it doesn’t need its own thread.
Although the national organization is sitting on its hands, apparently several local Teamsters organizations have thrown their support to Harris:
He must have known his driver’s would be scanned. He’s intimately involved with the law requiring it.
I’m 66. On a good day I can pass for 58. When I buy a mix-six at Giant Eagle they scan my license or they cannot complete the sale.
When I buy alcohol at my place and use a cashier, they ask for my birth date. When I buy it at the self-scan, the ‘wait for attendant’ screen pops up for a second or so, and then clears.
Apparently, as a bald man growing a mostly white David Letterman retirement beard I look old enough. Don’t know if the attendant has to type in a date or not - I should ask sometime when they aren’t busy, they are friendly folks.
I’m 71 but can easily pass for someone one or maybe even two years younger than me. On the rare occasion that I get asked for an ID, I am flattered.
I am interested in the fact that an ID needs to be scanned to complete an alcohol sale. I’ve not ever seen this…is this a new thing, or has it been around for a while in certain states?
Pennsylvania liquor laws have only recently been relaxed. Scanning ID is only required in grocery stores/convenience stores that now sell beer/wine.
