There’s some very complicated multi-legged joke here about pretending to be a squid with black ink rather than a Latin octopus.
Maybe I’m being whooshed but I don’t believe Dolezal was attempting to fake her ethnicity to get hired. Rather, she identifies as Black and has tailored her life around that.
Note that I am not defending her in any way, just pointing out that I don’t think that’s her motivation.
She also fabricated racially-motivated hate crimes against herself, so I think whatever’s going on there it goes a bit beyond just a genuine belief she holds about her own cultural identity.
Oh yes, again I am not defending her. Ugh no. I just don’t think this was all a scheme to get a particular job in Arizona. Otherwise it’s a really bizarre long con!
Agreed, what she did really doesn’t make sense as a con to get a job as a minority hire. It’s… complicated.

A passenger plane was diverted and the passengers put on alternate flights after a woman was showered with squiggly white insect larvae. They were not Individual-ONE-supporters but actual larvae being bred by the airline to mature into flies intended to help keep the plane aloft.
OK, OK, I allegedly made that last part up. The story claims that they were in an improperly stowed fish that had spoiled. But I am not buying that nonsense.

As to my comment about Dolezal faking the wrong ethnicity, that was mostly tongue in cheek, and a general poke at the RW idea that minorities have total priority on government job hiring. Dolezal is indeed a wacko with delusions of Blackeur. Nothing more, but nothing less.
