There is an all-star lineup of meth heads in Wichita. Last year, somebody stole a statue of Jackie Robinson. Yesterday, someone stole a centuries-old Spanish cannon from a downtown park.
Whether it’s illegal or not, the Indian authorities will not prosecute them for it.
The no-contact order for all outsiders (the island is a protected zone) applies even to Indian authorities themselves.
The primary reason for that is to protect the indigenous people from outside disease. You can plausibly argue that any attack on outsiders is self-defense. Simply approaching them is a potentially lethal act for anyone.
Legal under whose law? The Sentinelese have their own ideas about what “law” even is.
The area “belongs” to the Indian government, but they have a formal hands off policy Wiki says:
Nominally, the island belongs to the South Andaman administrative district, part of the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.[11] In practice, Indian authorities recognise the islanders’ desire to be left alone, restricting outsiders to remote monitoring (by boat and sometimes air) from a reasonably safe distance; the Government of India will not prosecute the Sentinelese for killing people in the event that an outsider ventures ashore.[12][13]
I suppose since the Sentinel Islands are Indian Territory and (I’m reasonably sure that) murder is illegal in India that the Sentinelese executing people is technically illegal1.
I’m suggesting imprisonment for crimes he’s already committed. But in any case don’t we routinely consider previous persistence at the same crime when considering sentencing? It’s not supposed to affect the chances of conviction, which is different from sentencing; but as we’re not the actual jury there seems no harm in saying on this board that there seems to be plenty of evidence for that.
According to the Sentinelese, presumably so. They probably don’t have a written law book, but I expect they have some system for making decisions; what it is we have no way of knowing.
And they’re arguably not trespassers, but invaders of a foreign nation. I doubt the Sentinelese acknowledge anybody else’s jurisdiction over them, even though India claims it.
Quoted for truth. And not merely potentially murderous, but potentially genocidal.

Hot firefighter on firefighter action!
Firefighters from Los Angeles Country and the City of Los Angeles get into fisticuffs over access to a fire hydrant, while ostensibly fighting the same fire.
