Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

After the Packers lost to John Elway and the Broncos in Super Bowl XXXII, there was a topical joke:

“What do the LAPD and the Green Bay Packers have in common? Neither of them can stop a slow white Bronco.”

Heh. I remember that punch line well, and got a lot of mileage using that joke.

From your link:

So, she’s a repeat offender?

But the good shit doesn’t, right?

Wouldn’t that be the foreground?

I get the phrase. But I couldn’t identify a Bronco if my life depended on it.

I should have noticed the police cars, though.

…As opposed to what I said?

You said “foreground” when you should have said “foreground”.

:damn: I would have sworn you said background. Now I’m just swearing.

Just a trifling navigational error. Nothing to see here.

Spring bulb flowering will be indefinitely delayed.

The rest of the pix in @Jackmannii’s link are definitely worth looking at. Do click through,

The miss distance to his house is the thing that would have my attention. The only thing worse than awakening to see a ship parked in your garden is awakening to the sensation of a ship entering your bed.

Missed me by that much!

Not sure where to put this. It’s not really stupid and not really evil, but, IMO, it is wrong.

The Valedictorian at Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita had his status as valedictorian removed after he delivered a graduation speech that had not been approved by school officials. His initial speech was rejected, then a revision was approved. However, he decided to give his own speech, which was well-received by his fellow grads and the audience. The school, however, took a dim view of his message.

A link to the text of his speech can be found in the linked article.

That’s not a huge container ship, as the big ships go, it’s smaller than most. In fact, it’s downright tiny. It’s an itty bitty little container ship, I want to pinch it’s little cheeks!

And, apparently, perhaps not with a crew and a captain well-seasoned?

It’s a lovely speech, too! There’s no reason they wouldn’t have approved it. Hopefully they’ll restore his status.

Or perhaps an engine and rudder system a bit too well-seasoned? As in totally worn out & falling apart?

In any case that was a great allusion Good Sir!

School administrators acting in a cowardly manner to punish a student because he made a joke about the Bishop falling asleep during his speech?

Seems likely.

So they want to takee away his validictorian-ness? If I were him, I’d say, keep it. It doesn’t count for anything that day after graduation. Your transcripts, that matters.

Really, even high school transcripts are irrelevant once you get to and through college.

This article, from the Wichita Eagle, which may be paywalled, contains these quotes from his mother:

Ann Nguyen Tran said the school’s decision to withhold his diploma and transcript until the medal is returned was made without conferring with the family, who left on an out-of-country trip shortly after the graduation ceremony. She added that the school said it was also revoking his distinction as valedictorian, including on his transcripts.

Now, Ann Nguyen Tran is worried her son’s scholarship to study neuroscience and biochemistry at Notre Dame may be rescinded because of the incident.

One would hope that the University doesn’t take back his scholarship.

This is my favorite.

With that picture I can imagine a knock at the door, you open it to see a dozen sailors and one asks, “Sorry, but can we use your restroom?”
