Some devotees talk up the advantages of drinking aged urine. They accumulate bottles of stinky dark orange goodness in their pantries.*

Also great for washing down fried placenta.

…Getting so close to pan-fried semen…

When reality has not only passed The Onion, but also The SDMB, humanity is well and truly screwed.

Or well and truly scrod in the present pluperfect.

Wait until they declare vintages.

I had a Sept 29/25 that was divine.

So what foods do you pair with aged urine?

Toe jam.

Smegma obviously.

No, but I don’t want to traumatize anyone with the ‘fermented meat’ folks.
And by that I mean putting beef liver in a jar, on a shelf, in your kitchen and eating it 6 months later.

Isn’t that spread on footballs?

Are you sure about that?

The Inuit had a habit of burying meat in the ground to ferment, which they would eat some while later. Smart people observed this practice and said, oh, that is unsanitary, you have to put it in jars. AIUI, this turned out to be a negative improvement, as the jars held in toxins/microbes that would percolate out when the meat was just plain buried.

In our lecture on the spore-forming obligate anaerobe Clostridium botulinum, the organism responsible for the production of the botulism toxin, our professor noted that several cases of botulism in Alaskan Natives occurred as a result of changing methods of fermenting meat. Professor, you had me at “fermenting meat”.

Investigating the veracity of this anecdote I found that tried and true Alaskan Native methods of burying meat underground to ferment had been modified by the introduction of Western conveniences. Tupperware containers and sealable plastic bags were now being used to create a meaty, anaerobic environment that C. botulinum was happy to vacation in.

Southern Peru. '74, before the rains.

Poignant, but not overbearing.

I’ve heard the week of Apr 14-20 is prized for it’s saltiness.

Shaka, when the walls fell.

In the video I linked to earlier about a pilot that had been drinking, I found it interesting that the pilot, if he so chooses to pursue it, will likely be able to fly again. Apparently airlines, especially if they need more pilots, will put pilots through a rehab program and eventually get them back up in the air.
Also, he got a DUI out of it?

I don’t know US state law but there’s a chance he can fly planes again but won’t be able to drive to the airport. Huh!

BOOM!

After driving for couple of minutes the driver reportedly lit up a cigarette, unaware a propane tank in the back seat of the truck was leaking. That’s when the truck blew up. Reports say the explosion caused the top to blow off the truck, caused the windshield to blow out and the truck doors to blow open. Those inside were taken to the hospital with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.

There’s a reason they tell people to transport those things only in open truck beds, never in a trunk or passenger compartment.

I’d say they got more than a bit lucky.
