Even if you’re taking it upon yourself to decide when a subject is “dormant” in a thread, ISTM that setting the dormancy window at less than a day or so after the subject was first introduced is a trifle restrictive. Some of us aren’t on the boards 24/7, you know.

Presumably it won’t last longer than it takes the whale to be towed out to sea to sink and feed the fishes. I assume that’s something like what they do these days.
