er, was a local celebrity.

Stupid MFers operating a bungee jump forget to attach the rubber band before tossing woman off 130 foot fall.
I used to tell that as a joke: Just as someone leaps, yell, ‘Wait! The cord!’
Just a quibble with the People headline - it wasn’t a ‘safety rope’ they forgot, which to me implies a backup of some sort. It was the actual bungee cord.
I recall a case of a tourist who did not speak the language of the people hooking her up. In some confusion about the preparation process, she jumped when she had the harness fully on, but the bungee not yet attached to the harness. That ended her vacation and life rather succinctly. Oops.
It certainly was less safe to jump without it.
Oh that bungee pisses me off way out of proportion. She’s all set to have fun, they throw her over the side, she starts falling: “whee this is fun! When does the bungee start slowing me down? Oh no WHEN DOES arrrr”
I’d throw the lot of them over after her.
We had another report of a 2 year old found dead in a pool in Gilbert. Watch your kids!!! Geeze little kid never had a chance.
And our local idiot republican congressman wants to remove those (unspecified) pesky woke liberal regulations that are hindering the housing industry. You mean, like the regs that require a pool fence with a locking gate?
Let’s be fair to republicans, those expensive regulations keep hitting property owners again and again and again, it never stops. A dead toddler can be forgotten in a matter of days.
Thoughts and prayers! This is not a time to politicize this tragedy.
And besides, the fence looks ugly.
I see comments that the rope in the video isn’t even a legitimate bungee cable, which apparently are thick af.
What did they use? An old inner tube? A rope?
Folks who aren’t safety-conscious in one way will likewise be non-safety-conscious in other ways, too.
I read the story on spiegel.de, and they reported that it wasn’t exactly bungee jumping as most people know it, but a variant called “rope jumping” that uses a rope that is much less elastic than a bungee rope. And yeah, the inventor of this sport died at age 35, while…(drum roll) rope jumping.
Sorry, only German link.
Then there’s the opposite. A nylon or polypropylene rope is used for a massive tug of war, it stretches, then snaps, amputating digits or limbs or even killing people.
Oh. MY!
They call it “Wookie jumping”, because it can pull your legs of of their sockets!
Well, maybe they don’t, but they should,
Bored redneck shoots at police drone, seemingly nearly bursts into tears as he is arrested.
The first-responder drone had been deployed to assist with a call near Todd Avenue South this past weekend, the sheriff’s office said.
While flying in the area, the drone operator spotted four men, one of whom appeared to be carrying a rifle. Video captured by the drone shows one of the men pointing a BB gun at the drone and firing.
The guy looks like he expects some sort of big consequences from it. Maybe on probation?
I knew it was Florida before I clicked the link.
Maybe he thinks if he acts really, really sorry the police will let it slide.
