“In this case, the driver manually overrode self-driving by pressing the accelerator all the way to 100% of the accel pedal in this residential area,” wrote Ashok Elluswamy on X, the platform that is now part of Musk’s rocket company, SpaceX. “They reached a speed of 73 mph during the crash, and had the accelerator pressed even after the crash.”
Given Tesla’s questionable record on it, I’m gonna wait for a more official report.
This is the same company that had cars disengage the self-driving mode immediately before detecting they would crash just so they could claim the feature was not active when it happened.
The driver might have been at fault. But I’m not trusting anybody at Tesla of telling the whole, unvarnished truth on the matter
Googling “lacky spuge”, apparently that is the real bag. The other one was a different time someone was arrested with a bag of drugs that said it wasn’t a bag of drugs. Apparently that fits the sense of humor of druggies.
