Barack Obama comes out swinging with this humdinger of an OP. Apparently the wimmenfolk are more uppity now than they used to be, and men are more submissive, because women have been “subjected” to equality. I don’t think that word means what he thinks it means.

My first reaction when I saw that a few days ago was to defend HurricaneDitka as one of the more reasonable conservatives on this board. But having wasted my time in this thread, I now completely agree with you. The polite and reasonable mannerism is totally a ruse.
The thread turned into a discussion about Trump’s speech announcing the withdrawal from the Paris climate accord. Several of us stated that it was basically a pack of lies and showed why. HD challenged those arguments, and expressed great interest in learning more about the underlying facts of climate change. Long story short: when all the detailed facts were assembled and it became incontrovertibly clear that Trump’s speech was indeed a pack of lies, HD’s tactics abruptly changed. Suddenly he lost all interest in facts and learning and became obsessed with how “partisan” I was, saying all those mean things about his orange hero. So partisan and hurtful was I toward the orange buffoon, in fact, that HD was suddenly finding it difficult in good conscience to continue the argument that he had just lost.
Perhaps not a classic troll, but certainly dishonest and hypocritical.
Clearly, he’s another Trumpanzee on par with Octoputz and Clothy.
This trifecta of boneheaded quadrupeds will quietly slip under the rug, from whence they came, as soon as the impeachment proceedings start.
To be fair, the problem is your fault for believing that “reasonable conservative” isn’t an oxymoron. (Hey-O! Partisan swipe!)
But no, I don’t think he’s a troll, he just evaluates things in a very different way than those who are more interested in fact, and useful analysis to come to useful conclusions.
He also considers any negative statement towards anyone on his side of the ideological divide a “wildly partisan attack”, but once again, just overly sensitive, not a troll.
I was baffled by his insistence on the truth of trump’s statements until I realized that he evaluates a statement as true if any part of it is true, even if there are parts of it that are false, and the conclusions are erroneous.
But, as long as he is consistent in that method of analysis, then I would not label him a troll, just bad at geometry.
Here’s the thing. Facts may sometimes be nuanced and require context and understanding, but at no point is that a license to twist the facts into a pretzel in order to misrepresent them and support an illogical self-serving agenda. That’s just simply called “lying”. On climate change, it’s a Republican specialty. The problem with Trump is that he’s not very bright and not very good at it.
The irony of HurricaneDitka calling me “wildly partisan” for daring to criticize his orange hero is that I’ve been merely pointing out his hero’s lies, while HD himself has been egregiously and damagingly partisan in the way he chooses to re-interpret reality to advance the anti-climate agenda of his favored ideology and to try to show that his pal Donald Trump, who keeps declaring that climate change is a hoax and that the Paris accord will do no good at all, is telling the absolute truth, as of course Trump always does!

Regardless of whether Machinaforce is a troll or not, and I believe so, he’s earned the first spot on my ignore list. I cannot be bothered to communicate with somebody that intellectually dishonest. So congratulations Machinaforce! I hate to block/ignore people but you’ve earned it.

Buuuuuuut that being said, I think I’ll keep him there anyway because either way I find communicating with him frustrating.
