There’s been no pile-on, it’s kind of an issue she has created. She pretty much exclusively used ellipses instead of periods everywhere, and the watchwolf-like post below is the first one that drew a response.

She thanked him for the feedback and said she’d try, but then asked why she should stop. And more people responded politely (including you, LSLGuy).
And that would have been the end of it, but she has since complained about how she was “beaten up” over ellipses in a dozen other threads. New poster welcome thread? She chimes in to watch out for jerks that complain about grammar. Someone mentions an insult? She tells us about the time she was insulted for using ellipses. Totally unrelated thread? She still finds a way to mention the damn ellipses. It’s not other posters raising the issue, it’s her.
I like Beckdawreck. She has posted good comments in a number of threads, and we need more new posters like her. But geez, drop it already.
As the resident Obergruppenführer in charge of persecuting the perpetrators of trivial mistakes in grammar, spelling, and punctuation, I see a souring of cordiality and rough times ahead in any future interactions I may have with Ms. Wreck-a-Bed.
Thanks for the rest of the background. I must have come into this late after she’d already toned it down. First I saw she was taking a beating for one use in a bog-typical way.
But yeah, it’s time A) nobody use ellipsis in lieu of proper punctuation. This is not a stream of consciousness medium. And B) nobody wear getting “counseled” as a badge of honor, or as a scab they keep picking at to “prove” they’re an ongoing victim.
Last of all, yes, she’s the kind of newbie we want more of. Unless this (or anything else really) turns out to be her hobby horse. Hobby horse riders don’t get anywhere and simply obstruct traffic.
I just read Beck’s ATMB thread on threadshitting, which turned into a train wreck on ellipses. I now want… to write… like William… Shatner… talks. It’s… overwhelming. Help… me.
Whassa matter? Didn’t you get enough attention in your own thread? I was going to pop in there to point out what an attention whore you were being, but it was not appropriate for the forum. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to do so here.
I know, folks, the irony that by doing so I’m giving him an opportunity to suck in even more attention is burningly obvious. Sorry, couldn’t help myself.
