I agree. I’ve made a joke about school shootings with my friends. When someone said “too soon”, I pointed out that Columbine was 19 years ago.
Was this particular school shooting the one that is being taken seriously by America as a whole? Because I didn’t get that impression, there’s a whole bunch of threads about ‘how can we stop this?’ when everyone involved knows that nothing is going to be done to stop the next one and half the people seem to want to throw more guns at the problem…
Okay, where I live, it rains all the time. Getting rained on sucks but there’s nothing that can be done to stop it so you look for the positives; it’s good for the plants, the reservoir is always full, etc. The impression I get is that this is generally seen as a thing that just happens and can’t be stopped, so we should look for the positives.
…of course there aren’t any, which is why my examples were facetious, school shootings are good because they might prevent future school shootings?
Whatever, next month when this happens again, I’ll be sure to read all the exact same points being brought up again…maybe guns should be controlled, oh noes second amendments!

Another guy tries to detonate explosives in his shoes, so now we have to remove our shoes at airport TSA checkpoints so they can be run through the x-ray machine.

Timothy McVeigh uses a combination of diesel fuel and common fertilizer to kill dozens of people in Oklahoma City. Now, as I understand it, you have to show ID if you buy more than 25 pounds of fertilizer and I believe the formulation has been changed.
But when someone uses guns to kill multiple people? Nothing is done, even when this seems to occur every other week.

Actually, with 345 mass shootings in 2017, the average is close to one a day. Tough to find a time that isn’t “too soon.”

I’m not Miller, nor do I want to moderate the Pit, but I’d say by using that sort of construction falls into the ‘game playing’ portion of things. And acting superior about your knowledge of such doesn’t make you seem any brighter.

I did read the rules, and while I did recall that we couldn’t call each other cunts or tell each other to fuck off, I had completely forgotten that motherfucker was on the list too, so point taken. I had just forgotten what a fucking pussy Zotti is.
I think “fuck off” is permitted (I see Clothatroll use it rather often with no warnings) but “fuck you” is not. Part of the point of the Pit is that we are expected to be a little more artful in our bilious exhalations than such non-slyness as “mother trucker”.
