I don’t love to see him gone, but it’s hard to argue that he wasn’t knowingly trolling in at least some extent.

Absolute bullshit. The very recent intolerance by moderators of the prolific jerks here is a godsend. The boring aspect you complain about was due to the jerks’ presence these past many months (years?) running off interesting and intelligent posters.
