Omnibus Trolls R Us Thread

Or very bad poetry.

He’s a Vorgon?

He’s had his eyes opened to the “truth” by YouTube videos from extreme right-wing sources. Apparently “most Americans” are attending Trump rallies, the Democratic leadership are all suffering from Kuru caused by 5G signals, and he’s received training on how to identify child molesters from the Boy Scouts (I’m guessing because the classes at the local Catholic Church were full).

I’m trying (but to be fair not very hard) to figure out the third post about real scientists. That one was so incoherent, I’m not even sure what idiocy they were rambling about.

I am fascinated by people like them. How do they function (not well I’m guessing)? How did they fall so low? All evidence that can be twisted to support the conspiracy is true, any evidence that disproves the conspiracy is a cover-up and hence proof of the conspiracy. It is a nice little bundle, but how does one get caught into the trap in the first place? How does anybody get presented with Q, flat earth, anti-vax, etc. lies and even start down that path? In other words, how does one look at the first statement from a conspiracy theorists and not react with “that’s really stupid”? Barring mental illness of course, which I’m sure accounts for some percentage of conspiracy theorists, but certainly not all.

And most importantly: how do they find their mouth with the food?

Because the first statement is probably something like “researcher Andrew Wakefield has released a study showing that autism is related to certain vaccines” or “climate scientists show that global warming is not caused by people”.

If you think “huh, that doesn’t seem right” and hit the Google, you will find reasonable looking sites defending the crazy. If those are the ones you hit first, you may go no farther, because as Mr Lincoln said - “If you read it on Google, it must be true”.

And the average person doesn’t have the time or tools to compare the cites on sites to determine which ones are legit.

Precisely.

And I read on the internet something like 70% of people have below average intelligence.

But that other 40%… wowza, they’re smart!

Vogon. (Or are you implying he’s a cross between a Vogon and a Vorlon? In which case, ewww, and also, the Vorlon wouldn’t have stood for it.)

We could always send a scout to find out if he’s green and warty, but Occam’s Razor means I’d put my money on “toad”.

Of course that’s true, smart people are not on the internet, they are reading books.

I’d love to see the poetry a Vogon/Vorlon crossing would produce.

Or maybe not.

Certainly curious about it though.

Vorlons can sit?

It’s just cruel to ask this question a few days after Flyer was banned. If he’s lurking, he’ll be having an aneurysm because he can’t set Bijou right.

HA! I thought something similar when I read that.

Not a problem. That kind, their typical diet consists of 12VDC@~4A.

We’ve got a live one. He’s gone from zero to total asshole in no time flat, so the odds of sockhood are high.

The Flying Dutchman has been a total asshole on this board for 20 years. His quieter at some times than others is all.

While what you said is true, the post is about Al Traina who is active near the end of that thread.

If that was who you intended, you should have made that clear. Since you linked to the beginning of the thread, I also assumed you meant The Flying Dutchman.

Sorry - you’re quite right and I should have linked directly to his first post but I thought AlTraina stood out in the totality of all responses. TFD hasn’t particularly registered on my trolldar as anything other than occasionally irksome.
