WITH CONTEXT, IT COMES ACROSS AS PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES.
ok, let me try a made up example. Say there’s someone who always, but always, wants to hear all details of other people’s sex lives. Starts threads, asks questions, makes comments, pit threads end up started, people get disgusted. So the mods say “quit doing that.” And there’s some sulking and threats of flouncing but eventually you (you are the poster in this made up example) mostly settle down.
Then you post your comment above to me- asking if my husband and I sleep in separate bedrooms, in isolation, as your actual post is, no big deal. But with the context of the past comments, threads, pittings, sulking, and mod intervention- suddenly it stops looking so innocent and now like you are pushing at the boundaries
Then why haven’t you started an ATMB thread about this? You’re putting all the blame on expectopatronum, but your beef should be with engineer_comp_geek for imposing the topic ban.
Never mind; I already know the answer. You haven’t heard back on your moderator application, and you don’t want to rock the boat by challenging a mod, so you’re going after an easier target—the person who is suspended and can’t respond.
So much for “standing up for the right thing.”
A hair trigger is *exactly *what’s needed after someone has *already *shown their true selves. Otherwise it’s just another slow buildup, they get entrenched, and the Boy’s Club mentality makes it harder to get rid of them a second time.
Here ya go. Maybe not troll in the sense of “person who says devicive things that they don’t believe to raise a stink” but definitely in the sense of “disgusting slimy monstrosity that lives under a bridge and eats goats.”
Machinaforce has a new bugaboo: Nihilism. I was told upthread that he PMs suicide threats to the mods, but I still think he has, and probably doesn’t treat, depression. He goes a little while between threads; I think he only posts when he’s in a depressive episode. Unfortunately, nothing we say or do here on the board can help him - he needs therapy and medication. And to stop reading shit on the internet.
Not surprised. I think a mental healthcare worker would call that “crying for help”. I mean, I get irritated when I see another of his wangstfests, especially as I can’t help reading the thread (which is on me, not him); but I’m inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt that he doesn’t post just to piss people off.
Unlike Marcus Flavius, about whom you were completely correct. Another argument for background checks on laptop purchases and/or WiFi accounts.
