Mine may be a minority view, but as a Christian I find that particular kind of glurge extremely annoying, and irreligious.
Praying for money, for whatever reason, is something that people do. Most of us know that it’s not really the sort of prayer that brings us closer to God, but we can’t help wishing for a little less to worry about, or things being a little easier. There’s nothing really wrong with that, IMNSHO.
This glurge, however, goes beyond that: If you do this, you can make God give you money.
That’s not prayer. You’re not talking to God, you’re not bringing yourself to Him (or Her). Instead you’re trying to control the mystic through rituals without any real attempt to open yourself up, in short it’s against everything that should be involved in a heartfelt prayer, even a heartfelt prayer for money. And, since it’s not prayer, according to tradition there is only one other supernatural power that will grant you things if only you’ll do this little ritual… :eek:
