I am waiting for a phone call to find out if I have a new apartment. I feel like I’m going to throw up, I want this so bad. It’s perfect. And when I told the guy I wanted it, he told me that some people were supposed to be coming in to make a deposit, but if they didn’t, it was mine. Jerk! Why was he showing it when someone else had already filled the paperwork and said they were making the deposit? I understand why, but it’s killing me! He said they were coming in at 10:00 today, it’s now 10:23 and I am dying waiting and hoping that they ditched it. AAAUUGGHGHH!!!
Heloise, I shall cross my fingers for you.
Thanks. It’s 10:30. Do you think it’s too early to call back? Especially since I called at 8:37?
<<<jangled nerves>>>
Is there some reason you can’t call him, other than he said he’d call you by 10:00? And since he’s officially late, I say call and find out if you can.
Well, I’m trying to not be too naggy. He said that they were supposed to come in and make the deposit at 10:00, and that he would call and let me know after. But they may be running late and he may just be giving them time. Which I understand, but I am physically ill in anticipation. I need to get out of where I am now and it has been so hard finding an apartment in the first place that I just have too many hopes placed on this one. If he wasn’t prepared to give it to me, why did he want me to see it??? <<<<<wail>>>>>
I think I’d call too. You could apologize for “bothering” him. If they are late with the deposit he might be ticked off at them and go with the bird in the hand (you, if you’ll pardon the expression.) That’s sort of how we got our current apartment.
It rented out.
I’m going to go throw up now.
I’m sorry Heloise. I know you are disappointed. It’s hard to believe right now…but you’ll find somewhere better…I’m sure.

Sorry to hear you lost the apartment. I hope you have a backup plan or at least know of another place to look.
Oh, how rotten. I know the feeling–we live in a very tight market.
Good luck with your search. Why don’t you leave your number with the guy and ask to check back periodically? His new tenant may be bad news or another unit might come up.
Thanks for the {{{}}} and the encouragement. I checked another place today, but decided it probably wasn’t my style based on the roaches in the kitchen…
No back up plans, just to keep looking. I have an appt. for tomorrow to look at a place and I’ll be driving around after work (1:30) to see if anything else is available. Plus, I’ll be doing more checking online and Thursday is almost like Sunday for the classifieds, so I’ll be checking the papers as well. Again.
Okay, how do I not be discouraged? (Is there a weary grin emoticon?)
Just a suggestion …
Next time bring your checkbook and if you really want the place flash a check in front of him. Very very very few realtors are able to turn down cold hard cash.
A bird in the hand and all that…

Don’t be discouraged, you will find something I’m sure. When you least expect it something will pop out and grab you! Do you need to find something immediately or do you have a couple of months?
Immediately. Like, this week. I suppose that I could continue to pay rent for the place that I have in San Diego, but I have no one to care for my cat while I’m looking. And I can’t bring her up to the place that I’m staying up here (Glendale, CA).
Sorry you lost out, Heloise. Disappointing stuff like this happens to me, it helps to think of the road not taken. If you’d gotten that apartment, you would have missed something good.
I know. Heard it from the Psychic Hotline.
Good luck in your search.
I always thought the looked kinda “weary.”
