Red Delicious apples aren’t terrible, they’re delicious! It says so right in the name, just like Greenland is a lush, verdant paradise.
Ugly duckling? She is a bit of a misfit.
A glamorous blonde young bounty hunter who knows how to handle a chainsaw is not exactly what I think of when I think “ugly duckling,” but it’s true that she doesn’t know where she fits in or who her parents are.
Has it ever been specified what exactly Snow White did to piss off the Mayor?
Surely it’s more than ‘she’s happy and I’m not’?
They’ve hinted in the previews they’re going to explain it in future flashbacks. In the books, I thought it was that Snow White was better looking and the Queen was jealous. I think the actress that plays the Queen is hotter than Snow White, although I don’t think most women look good with short hair.
…Not explicit… but we haven’t seen the Sheriff in the flashbacks have we?
The Queen spent a lot of time moping about how her love was dead because of Snow White.
My theory is that whoever the Sheriff was in the storybook world.. I think the Woodsman who was supposed to kill Snow White in the woods… was the Queen’s lover (perhaps unrequited). Maybe she caught him looking at her and got jealous and demanded that he kill her. He refuses and the Queen accidentally kills him and of course blames Snow White.
In the curse, he’s able to come back but part of the knife twisting is that he doesn’t remember her and she doesn’t remember him…but they are still drawn to each other making their relationship in the real world make sense.
Also… if there was potentially something there between Snow White and the Woodsman it allows for some delicious love triangle action between not only Mayor/Teacher/Sheriff… but also Sheriff/Teacher/Comatose Prince Charming.
If so, then the woodsman now has a bit of a thing for Snow’s daughter. Ewww.
What storybook character is the sheriff suppose to be?
I too liked the second episode better than the first one.
It was a pony first of all, and more importantly, a UNICORN pony. Also it was her pet, and the Queen guessed (correctly) that Maleficent had redirected her own lost love onto it. She even comments on it, something about love and weakness.
Cool! Thanks for writing it down. I saw it but just assumed it was some weird decoration.
I also had that thought cross my mind, especially the way Emma wrapped up the “Operation Cobra” so neatly; pretend we don’t believe it and burn the important part of the story so she doesn’t even find it. I REALLY liked that.
And who knows, maybe she could try to fill the hole with young Henry’s heart as well . . .
1.) I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was bothered by the honeycrisp turned into red delicious. Why make it a honeycrisp at all?
2.) I was definitely blown away seeing Giancarlo Esposito. Another reason to stick with the show.
3.) I like the idea that the sheriff is the woodsman. The one who “does all her dirty work for her” and takes out Emma at her request. In fact, now that it’s mentioned, I’m seeing a lot of similarities.
Way back in post 22, I think he’s the Huntsman (which is usually the character in Snow White, the Woodsman is usually the character in Little Red Riding Hood, so it is possible he might also turn up since we’ve seen the wolf).
I haven’t seen the last episode (until next Thursday I’m just crazy busy!) but I might take a break from studying to watch it..
I really like this series. At first I thought it might go the route of the Fables comics ( the sherriff really looks a lot like Bigby Wolf) but in the second episode it deviates quite a bit. Still, if there ever is a third fairy tale series I really hope they’ll ask Mark Buckingham for the rights.
I wonder if the queen just screwed up the curse again. Maybe she was supposed to remember who she was, then something went wrong and she’s fuzzy about who she really is.
Rumpelstiltskin kept all his memories.
After this third episode, there is little doubt left in my (and simwife’s) mind that the Mayor knows fully well who she is and is not directly cursed - actively working to prevent snow and charmings reunion.
Apparently, tho, she didn’t read the part of the story where the first time snow and charming met, he still ran off with the blond only to return to snow, so - this still fits the story quite well, and possibly even better.
and scrunch goes the trolls!
Tonight’s ep revealed that the Huntsman let Snow go. I think if the Mayor knew the whole story she wouldn’t have placed him in a position of trust and power.
Simster - Did you watch the previews for the next ep? The blonde’s backstory?

at this moment, I don’t recall the previews - we went from this to dexter to the walking dead.
Are you sure it was the same blonde? Because I wasn’t. Sure, that is. I hope you’re right. It would make sense, since Cinderella hooked up with Prince Charming in the stories I encountered as a child.
And apparently Mary Margaret is not a nun, since she said “I’m a teacher, not a nun.”
I removed “premieres tonight” from the thread title since this seems to have turned into an ongoing season thread.
No, I’m not sure. I have this weird facial recognition thing where everyone looks alike to me. I tell most actors apart by hair color, skin tone and context. I saw the hair color and leapt to a conclusion that would make the story interesting.

Based on the Wiki page, it looks as if Catherine is Anastasia: “a spoiled girl with a very “royal” past.[7] She is revealed to have been Prince James’ fiance before he met Snow White. In the real world, she’s his wife.”
I beg your pardon. The fairytale character is named Annette, not Anastasia. Please forgive my confusion: the actress is named Anastasia, and wasn’t she one of Disney’s princesses?
