Lost my wedding ring last year. I was a bit grumpy about it, but it wasn’t that precious to me. I did look at replacing it and wow has (white) gold gotten expensive! So I just did without.
So, today I was vacuuming my car, which I have owned for about one year, this would be the first time I’ve vacuumed it out. I pull up the driver’s floor mat and there’s my ring. Now that I think about it, it’s an obvious place for it to have been lost.
I once lost a pretty opal ring which didn’t fit me well–my fingers not being as dainty as my grandmother thought they were. So I wore it on my pinky, and lost it. I assumed I’d lost it in the dining hall, and even went and actually asked about such an item being found.(If you knew me, you’d know how out of character that was). It hadn’t.
Went home for Christmas. A month later, came back and was cleaning out my closet, when I pulled out a shoe and found my ring.
Didn’t wear the ring a whole lot until I got it resized.
When I was about 5 or 6 I won this plastic jewellery set with a ring and earrings and a necklace from TimeOut (arcade thing). Not long after I got it, our (then) new dog ate the ring. Never did find that one. You’re very lucky.
I did that with a PlayStation 2. A couple of years ago we moved, and I hadn’t unpacked it yet. However, when that year’s edition of Madden came out, it was time to get the PS2 out of storage. Unfortunately, a top-to-bottom search of the house turned up nothing. Wound up having to go buy a new one.
Found the old one a few weeks later, of course. So now I have my two PS2s next to each other, the spare all set to take over if the primary one craps out on me.
Not going to happen. 'Tis my birthstone, and, more importantly, the last “good” present my grandmother ever bought me. She’s had issues with dementia since then. It’s not that I don’t like it, I just don’t think about it, and I don’t wear much jewelry.
I’ve lost/misplaced loads of stuff in my time on this planet. Can’t think of any instances where what was lost, turned into found, offhand – but I always look forward to making the rediscoveries.
My husband lost thirty pounds, and his wedding ring was quite loose. We were planning to have it resized, but sometime in the planning process, it slipped off his finger - we think while he was mowing the lawn. When we went to purchase a new one, he joked with the sales guy that he wanted this one to be loose, too, so in case he wanted to pick up girls in bars, he could just slip it off. I told the jeweler that if THIS ring got lost, the next one was going through my husband’s nose.
He’s lost more weight in the last ten years, but he still has his wedding ring!
