According to the criminal complaint, Green was at the west-side Green Bay home of Chalone VanHulle when she arrived home on Oct. 19. VanHulle enlisted the help of Michael Vieaux to help get Green out of her house.
During a heated discussion about whether Green was going to leave, Green picked up a 3-foot sword and swiped at Vieaux, who raised his arm in defense, the complaint said.
The blow sliced off Vieaux’s right thumb at the base and lacerated his arm to the bone. The thumb has since been reattached.
Vieaux, a welder, was in court Monday, his arm in a sling and brace that covered his entire thumb.
He has three screws in his arm and a pin in his thumb. Doctors still don’t know how much use Vieaux will regain of the appendage. He had surgery last week to perform a skin graft over the slice in his arm.
Vieaux said he put up his arm to deflect the blade, contending the blow was aimed at his head.
“It was the scariest moment in my life,” he said.
Green also faces a misdemeanor charge of bail jumping because he was on bail from an unrelated charge of lewd and lascivious conduct at the time of the sword attack.
If convicted of all three charges — two that include dangerous weapons enhancers — Green faces nearly 86 years in prison.
Green also made an appearance Monday in the lewd and lascivious behavior case. He is represented by attorney Theresa J. Schmieder.
In that case, Green and his wife, Wendy Green, were being transported to the Brown County Jail on May 28 in a sheriff’s department van. According to the complaint, Wendy Green performed oral sex on Darryl Green — as two juvenile prisoners looked on — during the ride back to the jail.
Charged as a repeat offender, Green faces up to three years, nine months in jail if convicted. The complaint said Green was convicted of battery in two separate cases, one in January and the other in February, along with disorderly conduct and bail jumping in July 1999.
A trial date of Jan. 23 has been set in the lewd and lascivious case.
