One Hit Wonder comedians

No, but I do remember this line.

“Ladies, I only call you bitches because I don’t know you personally.”

I’d consider Russell Peters a one-hit wonder. If anyone’s even heard of him, it’s probably for his Beat your kids bit (‘Somebody gonna get-a hurt real bad.’) It was funny, but I know someone who saw him a year ago and said he really didn’t have anything more.

The “shoulder-mah-pads” guy!

I still crack up and can do his routine (although probably no longer PC).

Quasi

Just recently he had a reality show where he was trying to make a comeback. Looking it up, it was called “Dice Undisputed” and it ran on VH1 in 2007.

I’m not all that familiar with comedy, but I would guess Jim Gaffigan with his hilarious Hot Pockets bit.

Aren’t all comedians generally one hit wonders? They have that one schtick that everyone loves and then they hit it big with a TV show and broaden their comedic audience by watering down the thing people loved so much.

Got me a new best friend!

Thanks, natterj! I laughed just as hard tonight as I laughed all those years ago! I had forgotten about the earlier thins with the balloons!

Thanks!

Jim Gaffigan has a wide range of material. Maybe you’ve just seen a lot of the Hot Pockets because it’s easily identifiable with him, but he’s got lots more. Check out his DVDs; they’re great.

Funny you mention him. I always associate Vaughn with a joke ABOUT him. Soon after the Kennedy assassination, Lenny Bruce, paced the stage in silence for several minutes. Finally, he stopped pacing, stepped up to the mike, sighed loudly and announced: ‘‘Whew! Vaughn Meader is screwed.’’ Which is right up there with Gilbert Gottfried’s post 9-11 joke that he had intended to catch a plane, but couldn’t get a direct flight because “they said they have to connect with the Empire State Building first.” Ballsy.

No Quasi, thank *you *for reminding me of probably my favorite comedy bit of all time. I think is was from one of those HBO Young Comedian specials. And yes, it is somewhat un-PC, but still damn funny nonetheless.

I just can’t believe I remembered the guy’s name.

It definitely was on one of the Young Comedian Specials, natterj. I was working in Panama City, FL at the time as one of the managers of the Sherwin-Williams Co. and my crew and I did that whole football routine all the next week.

My name being Bill, our Store Manager took to calling me “Billy-Bob Brubake”!

Denis Leary isn’t really a one-hit-wonder, but I think people know “Asshole” over all the rest of his work.

I don’t know if this counts. This thread seems to have a pretty wide interpretation.

Cheech and Chong were known for their pot humor, even though their bits on stage were all over the map. They will always be remembered for the marijuana, though.

“Kinda grabs ya’ by the boo-boo, don’t it?”
