One man's pet stained carpet is another man's Twister game - The Emo Phillips Thread

I actually can’t remember my favorite Emo bit, so if any of you can remember it for me I would be oh so greatful.
It had to do with Emo asking his dad for something. He went into the living room to ask his dad and his dad told him to go ask his mom. He went into the kitchen to ask his mom and his mom told him to ask his dad. He went back to the living room to ask his dad and his dad told him again to ask his mom. He went back to the kitchen and his mom told him again to ask his dad. On the way back to the living room he tripped and fell and heard his mom call out “15 -love. Your serve”

Anal Scurvy I saw him on Letterman or Leno recently and was also amazed by how different he looks…he looks almost…normal.

Thanks Musicat.

I was hoping there was a special or a taped act that someone could recommend that is in larger ciculation. Looking at your post, should I assume there isn’t much out there?

The other day a woman came up to me and said, “Didn’t I see you on television?” I said, “I don’t know. You can’t see out the other way.”

People always ask me, “Where were you when Kennedy was shot?” Well, I don’t have an alibi.

I’m another big fan of Emo’s - I just can’t think of any of his other lines at the moment! I’d love to see him live. My other favourite comedian is Steven Wright, who I’ve heard is actually a bit too much live (2 hours of deadpan = early nap time).

Okay, here’s a few of my faves, paraphrased from memory…

“When I went away to college, my Dad said ‘I’m gonna miss you, son.’ Sure, now that I broke the sight off your rifle.”

"I was in the park the other day, and I look over, and I say to myself… ‘Hey! That’s Jimmy Peterson! I haven’t seen him since the third grade!’ So I go up to him, and I say, ‘How ya doin, Jimmy? You drunken reprobate… You moron…’ And Jimmy starts crying and crying… That’s when I realize… If that’s really Jimmy… Then he would have grown up, too.

“I was driving down the street, and I was swerving all over the lane… because I was trying to change the radio… And just as I got the old one out…”

I also own the “Live at the Hasty Pudding” LP. Just this past weekend I pulled some LP’s out of storage and there it was! It is very funny and, I must say, I am glad that I’m not the only one who has this item. I didn’t know there was a VHS tape.

I also saw Emo live in the late 80’s. He appeared on a triple bill with Rita Rutner and gasp Larry Bud Melman, as hard as that is to believe. The show was quite bizarre and I have only the dimmest memories of it.

**Mogwei22 **, that joke was when Emo asked his dad for money to go to college.

Have you checked the resources I mentioned above? That’s about all I can supply. Emo’s humor was never mainstream and I doubt if there is much out there. Perhaps if his “revival” catches on, things will be released from the video vault.
