Fortunately, I wasn’t in it at the time. I woke up, went to take a shower, and discovered a dooky on the tub floor. I’m suspecting it was probably Bailey; she’s silent and stealthy. The tub, though, surprises me, since she only tolerates baths grudgingly.
We woke up Sunday morning to a wet spot on the bedspread between us courtesy of our damned cat! Criminy, he sleeps with us - why would he pee there?? So I got to start my day of rest by cramming a king size bedspread into the washer.
Damned cat… At least a tub is easy to clean. I wouldn’t mind if he peed in the shower. Or even the sink! Sheesh.
Clever doggy. My cat isn’t quite smart enough to go in sinks or bathtubs when she gets shut out from her litter box (oh, have I EVER taken steps to prevent that from happening again!), but she does go on blankets, when she has accidents. That’s totally cool compared to going on, say, the wall-to-wall carpet.
It’s an epidemic - I had to push my cat off the bed on Sunday, to keep her from vomiting on the sheets. Rather on the carpet than have to change the bed!
Definitely an epidemic! One of my two cats is pooping in the dining room, on the carpet. I keep laying down aluminum foil and he keeps moving to a new spot. It’s getting pretty shiny in there!
I think it’s because the boxes are too clean – he can’t find them anymore.
One (and maybe two) of my cats pees in the upstairs shower if the litterbox isn’t cleaned to his liking. On very rare occasions we’ve also found a little pile in there, but he hasn’t done that in a long time. I’m with those who say it’s just about the best place I can think of if he’s going to “think outside the box”.
All of my dogs can get in and out of the tub easily by themselves; they range from 50lbs to 120lbs. In fact, if I’m not careful and leave the door open when showering, I will get an unexpected visitor. FWIW, my stupid cat will jump in, too.
Well now this thread makes me feel better. Because our two puppies (a year old this August) will NOT be house-trained.
For the first 3 months or so that we had them (they were 4 months when we got them) we gave them a treat every time they evacuated out of doors, along with heavy doses of praise. We would have yelled at them if we could ever catch them in the act of peeing/pooping inside, but I have yet to catch them at it.
Besides which, these are the Dogs You Cannot Punish. Because they don’t give a shit, you should pardon the phrase, about our opinion. Say “Bad doggy!” or even smack them, and they don’t react at all; the tail doesn’t stop wagging, they don’t cringe. Basically, their behavior does not change in response to any environmental stimulus, except they lunge for treats and go apeshit (there’s that word again) when they see their leashes.
