Yeah, I guess I really didn’t think that one through! ![]()
What bugs me is how terrible most of the EU is, clones out the wazoo! Luke has fallen to the darkside! Again! No wait…fifth time?
A lot of story elements that seem out of place in SW, which is at the heart fun pulp scifi. One thing I liked about the Clone Wars show was they kept this in mind, lots of fun pulply crime stories set in the SW universe.
Sadly, that’s not true. Behold my only acting credit on IMDB and I have been reliably told that I still do not have a name or backstory to my “character”.
(yet? crosses fingers)
You’re in “Star Tours”? Cool.
Next time I’m at Disney World (which should be this October), I promise to invent a name and a backstory for you, and proclaim it to everyone on the ride.
My wife has been running out of things to be embarrassed about when she’s out with me, so this should give her some fresh material! ![]()
Part of the problem with inventing backstory for Star Tours is that it’s not exactly consistent in it’s timeframe–you can go from assisting the Rebel Alliance on Hoth to the middle of a Clone Wars fight over Corusant.
So…ummm…you’re a Time Lord assisting the Republic covertly?
True. I know it’s no longer canon, but did you ever read Tales from Jabba’s Palace?
19 short stories about background characters from Jabba’s lair right around the time of Luke’s visit to free Han and company.
Who’d have thought Jabba the Hutt had a taste for beignets? Here I was thinking he preferred live frogs.
Yes, indeed. You can read a little more about it in this thread.
And while I’ve seen the raw footage of my role, I still haven’t been on the ride myself. Also, I actually didn’t know it was at WDW (never been); I’m only familiar with MK in Anaheim.
But that doesn’t impact the characters you see, right? Yes, you as the audience engage in different activities, but you’re also not a “character” per se, just a first-person player, essentially.
While I haven’t been on the ride, I was told that I appear in some modules, but not others (though I believe I also appear in hangar “b-roll” that is on display as people wait in line). So my “character” has a single continuity that shouldn’t be contradictory with any larger canon.
Still can’t help but think that would drive your hardcore fans bugnuts. It’d be like Qui-Gon Jinn and Luke Skywalker in the same scene.
Assuming that the Star Tours in Orlando is the same as that in Anaheim, it certainly is. It’s at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, rather than Magic Kingdom, but it’s there. One of my “don’t-miss” rides.
