Abortion, mostly.
Anything Christian unless Polycarp has already been there.
Sports. In general, except for the funky ones (read: non-American ones).
Harry Potter.
Stuff I disagree with.
Stuff I can identify with.
Random IMHO things where the urge strikes me to post.
Grammar threads.
Other stuff I’m forgetting because my tummy is yelling at me.
Threads started by some people I like, or most recent posts by people I like.
Agreed. Two things, right said fred and Jack Batty:
- Where did this “joke” originate? A link, please?
- RSF, kindly drop the joke, if it seems to bother Jack Batty - I for one can fully understand that this is somewhat annoying.
Here is the origin of my little jest, which then lead to my own little self indulgent, attention-whore-like appreciation thread.
Per your request.
I appreciate the back-up Coldie, but Fred and I had a pleasant Email exchange, and we’re cool.
Usually, those kind of threads I try to avoid.
Anyway…my trick ponies:
ER
advice threads
sympathy threads
post count parties
welcomes
birthdays
music
haiku
vaguely creepy things
Let me put it this way. If there were a thread entitled:
Gay teenage Christian journalists, their long term relationships with intelligent, musical, and poetic females who are knowledgeable about pop culture, especially Buffy the Vampire Slayer, sex, theater, homophobia, Ivy League institutions, and drug/alcohol-free Lesbian Vampire Armies of the Night…
I’d be there.
The Romanovs
Royalty in Europe
Cats
History
WWI
Russian stuff
MST3K
Star Wars
Titanic
Dolls
Vintage Clothes
Classical Music
Basically, it depends on the topic-sometimes I click on topics that SOUND interesting, but I’m not inspired-and vice versa as well.
Oh, yeah…
Threads about my home state.
Current events
Religion threads
School system issues
Gay-related issues
TV (ER, Buffy, X-Files)
Cats
Music
Web techie stuff
However, 75% of the time I’m a lurker. those are just the threads that I feel comfortable posting to. My interests are much, much broader.
Well, here’s how I’m a one trick pony. I’ll mostly post to threads dealing with:
gay related issues
Languages
plants (sub group: palms and bamboos)
writing systems
Religion (primarily in GQ and IMHO, though, try to avoid it in GD)
SF Dopefests
Travelling/backpacking
Languages & linguistics
Buffy
There are a lot of things I really like or feel strongly about that I won’t necessarily post about, mainly because I am not a very confrontational person, and hesitate to get involved in a debate about something I can’t look at objectively.
Oooh, and baseball. Especially during the baseball season and it involves trash-talking about who’s kicking who’s ass. I don’t mind being confrontational about baseball, because I’m not too worried about offending anyone, since those threads are usually all in good fun.
-
Any thread Eve posts to, both because we share many pop culture interests and because I am stalking her.
-
Any thread where Scotticher posts because she’s my bestest buddy.
-
Any thread where Techchick68 gets mad because I like her so much and hate to see her do it, even though she is often getting mad at ME for posting to them.
-
WWI, because I have a perverse interest in that most pointless and self-destructive war because I can relate to that.
-
Poetry, although I had never thought of myself as that big a fan before I got here.
-
Welcoming newbies, because it’s something we should encourage.
-
Sympathy threads, because we all need support sometime, even if it’s just “that sux!” commiseration.
I avoid post parties, although I like to encourage people, because I’m not really a party kinda guy.
1.Anime
2.Books
3.Anything where I can make a comment without sounding really stupid
I guess my intersts are broad, or at least atempting to be.
And I can’t say anything more. And ending like this is dumb,
so I’m breaking 3. Dang, I now can’t post. But you seem like good-hearted folks, so I’ll post anyway.
U.S. public & private school system stuff (K - collegiate).
The recent Boy Scout stuff.
Affirmative Action stuff.
Electronics questions.
Automotive questions.
Computer questions (hardware, software, & programming).
Movie questions (post 1980).
Economics questions.
Welcome threads.
The occasional post count party.
Video games.
Various post padding MPSIMS threads.
I just found my hot button. Parenting.
Other than that one tiny topic, I just sort of wander as the mood hits.
Umm… I look at mostly everything, but the topics that draw me like moths to a light:
Feminism
Canada
Buffy
And I like talking to people, so MPSIMS threads are good, but since I lurk a bit it’s kinda like freaky voyeurism.
Oh, and anything with JDT. It’s BOUND to be funny.
Hi tater!
(I was at home slacking off–I took a personal day from work just to do nothing! Didja miss me?)
beth, you naughty girl! You didn’t sign um, the book, as I requested! If you don’t, I am taking you off of the comittee, and that’s a promise, Missy.
Oooh, check your mailbox, I’m going to send you something.
Cricket.
<sound of silence from the board>
Well, OK, now you know why my post count is about 4,000 less than Coldfire’s despite the fact that I joined before him.
Deranged arguments for creation science.
‘What’s your favorite’ lists.
Europe vs. USA
WW II
Why Republicans are wrong, wrong, wrong
The universally beloved petroleum industry.
Planes, trains and automobiles.
I’d really like to talk more about sex, but I prefer to contribute to things one has personal knowledge of.
