Ok, so technically this time last year I was coming back from the bowling alley, annoyed at the lack of progress but not yet officially in labor. Nonetheless, it’s after midnight and that means my baby is one year old!
The Dope has been a big part of my parenting journey: you kept me from going crazy, helped me design a science-themed nursery (which turned out prettycool, by the way), and literally kept me entertained as I went into labor (pretty sure I remember laughing at one of Vinyl Turnip’s posts while having a contraction, which should be some sort of record).
Anyway, this post is just to say thanks, Dopers, for the advice and commiseration and bragging space you’ve offered over the past year. Not sure how I would have done it without you (although seriously, change a diaper once in a while, would you?).
P.S. I totally didn’t read through that last thread and cry my eyes out. Not at all.
The Cheerios photo captures the pure joy of dumping stuff. Thanks for checking back in with your pithy summary of how the Dope and your little ones’s first year were intertwined.
Oy, the nail polish. Did you know that an almost-one year old can quite easily shatter a bottle of nail polish? I learned that this week. Looked down, and he had a handful of glass and purple nail polish dripping on the new carpet. I thought my heart was oung to stop! Luckily there were no injuries, and it turns out hat Windex will get nail polish out of white carpet. Who knew?
