Over the past year or so, I’ve noticed that the Onion Personals always show the same picture of a woman. The name listed is fairynymph1. From the link and the format, it looks like the same online personals service that I’ve seen on some other sites, but unlike on other sites, the picture never rotates.
This is a joke, right? The personal of the day is always the same person, and it’s the Onion. At first I thought it was like the “What do you think” section, but the text seldom changes, and it’s not particularly funny in the first place. I guess I just don’t get it. Why is this funny?
You always see the same woman? That’s weird.
Yes, the Onion personals are real. I actually used them for awhile, before I met my husband. I was even personal of the day once, so I know they change them!
Perhaps not “always,” but the vast majority of the time. For at least the last year, but probably longer than that.
If other people don’t, maybe it’s fate! The internets have aligned to bring me true love; I’ve just been too obtuse to notice it until now.
I think they use that photo in a rather tight rotation because Fairynymph1 is such a hottie.
I think you’re probably right, actually. While I’ve seen other pictures up there, thye’ve all pretty much been attractive people. I mean, they’re advertising for the service, so they’re going to rotate the hottest pictures in there the most often.
Ok, it looks like it’s probably just some unconscious confirmation bias on my part. I’ve refreshed the page a few times, and I do see other people.
One of the pictures in semi-regular rotation is that of November 1998 Playmate Tiffany Taylor.
